So as I start buying more and more BD's, I find myself buying more and more that I haven't seen before. For some, it's because I'm not patient enough to get a long wait movie from Netflix. For other's it something I anticipate I'll love. So far this year, here are my blind buys and how I liked them:
Looper - 5 stars. I heard enough good things about it and couldn't wait for Netflix to get it in. Safe - 4 stars. I am a sucker for Statham action flicks. I watched the preview and read a few things and decided to go for it on a BBY U&S deal for $15. Some others I've bought in the past as blind buys include the last 2 Transformers movies, Inception, Bourne Legacy, and Up! for the kids. I have Skyfall on pre-order and haven't seen it either. |

Of all the Blu-rays in my collection, only one has been a blind buy. I bought the Criterion edition of Purple Noon back in December without having seen it. I had done my homework several times over, though, and I had long been interested in the film. I am not disappointed, and it's a great flick.
All of the other purchases have been upgrades from my DVD collection or films with which I am quite familiar. I have made no blind buy purchases in 2013. I would love to say that I intend to continue this trend, but that's not going to happen. In fact, it's a safe bet that there are some blind buys in my near future, starting with the Criterion edition of A Man Escaped in March. |

I know you said you couldn't wait for Netflix to get it in, but Netflix got that movie in on December 31st.
Anyway, my first blind buy was Dredd. I expected more, but it was way better than Stallone's movie. I will say Netflix got this in on January 8th, but I still purchased it. |

I could have warned you about Barbarella. It's in the top 5 worst sci-fi films ever made.
