Default Resident Evil: Revelations-May 24

Quote:
Resident Evil: Revelations, the 3DS game, is officially launching on Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii U as a full retail title for $50 on May 21 in the US, and May 24 in Europe. Revelations will also be available to download on PC and PS3 on day one, with digital versions of Xbox 360 and Wii U to follow.

Revelations hit North American 3DS systems on February 7, 2012, as a survival horror, single-player madhouse with co-op Raid mode. Or, more fittingly to the plot, madboat. The revamped version includes fresh HD graphics, Hunk as a new playable character in Raid mode, a new enemy, a harder difficulty, and brand new weapons and custom parts in Raid mode.

I'm going to give Capcom one last chance, so I'll pre-order this. I've heard that it's better than RE5 and 6.

Is this the version in which I'm conflicted to get whichever version of the game? I want it when I get a 3DS, but it seems Father Time has taken care of that for me.

I don't think any of that is worded properly, but who cares? The real RE6 is here.

If we're talking about gameplay/graphics etc, then yes, it was pretty good, but as a Resident Evil, I thought it was a total let down. LIN was the best thing about it and I've played it thousands of times.

I've had Resident Evil 6 since day one and still haven't finished it. I haven't even really enjoyed it all that much. But, based on the good reviews that RE: Revelations have received, I actually kind of excited to see this hit PS3.

Downloaded the demo from the Japanese PS Store and it's a shocker.

Probably the loosest aiming controls I've experienced in a PS3 game. Good luck consistently hitting the body part of the sludge-monsters you want. They barely react to being shot so it's not very satisfying in that respect either.

Max Payne 2-era low-res photo textures for the environment, character models are better but still look pretty messy and facial animation is minimal in cutscenes.

Am I playing Shenmue? I wish.

Disappearing and lightsource-shifting shadows!

If you go the 'wrong' way in the demo and backtrack to the outside of the ship, you see the spray from big waves hitting.. but don't hear the corresponding sound effect until a good second or so after the spray first appears.

Eating thin-air!

I'd like to give Capcom the benefit of the doubt and believe this 3D map is extra low-res in some old-skool/military hardened-PDA fashion but everything else gives me too much doubt.

There's an odd environment scanning ability that can only be to artificially lengthen the time you spend in each environment because most of the items 'discovered' should be plainly visible to Jill without scanning.

Despite the very basic graphics and small, boxy rooms, the game only runs at 720p 30fps.

In the 3ds version the environment scanner is used for scanning monsters to learn more about them and reveals hidden items. The controls where very well done on the 3ds, especially with the CCP (dual analogue stick attachment). I wouldn't expect this game to stand up visually to modern games on the ps3/360 though and it really should have been sold at a lower price given it is over a year old now and available for under $20 on the 3ds.

It is a very good game and has enough content to justify its cost, but as someone who owns the 3ds release I see little reason to get this at its current price point.

It isn't just a straight port, they have changed and added monsters weakness, they have added randomization to where enemies appear etc and redone the lighting, textures etc.

As for the controls, it fells like the uncharted 3 single player controls (not the patched in alternative controls rather the default controls with the more square like aiming movement), personally I think they could be improved but they are by no means terrible and if you didn't have any issues with the default controls in uncharted 3's sp I can't see you having an issue here.

As for the sound issues, the waves hitting the boat matched matched the sound on my system (I checked on both ps3 and pc). For those wondering on pc the mouse dead zone is extremely problematic as you have to move far to much before the aim starts to move in game (think Dead Space 1 just not anywhere as bad). Visually the game looks slightly better then a hd rerelease of a ps2 game, which is exactly what I was expecting.

Based on the demo and the 3ds release, anyone wanting a resident evil 4 type experience mixed with the older resident evils, then this is the game for you.

Uncharted 3 SP's unpatched aiming was nowhere near as bad as this and that was pretty bad to begin with. Aiming is downright awful in this demo, I'm amazed anyone would think it's acceptable.

Massive deadzone and then full whack aiming speed. It could hardly be any worse.

Solution is rather simple is it not, a demo being a demo, people can check it out for themselves. Personally it fells like U3 unpatched aiming to me. Worst aiming on ps3 though, not even close.

Early chatter seems to go Wii u, 360, then ps3 far behind. Wii U seems to be getting the edge for controls its schemes.

PC review copies were just released.

I downloaded the PS3 demo didn't play it yet. Does the Wii u or PC have a demo? I'd like to check then all out if possible. I was leaning towards Wii u because the setup would be closest to the 3DS version I would think.
