I am a huge fan of the American version of The Office. I've loved it since day one. People don't like the first season but I really loved it and it drew me in. I've watched every season since.
I think the first three seasons were amazing, absolutely top notch mix of comedy and drama. It even ended perfectly with Jim finally asking Pam out. The story wraps up perfectly. The arc from Seasons 1-3 wrap up perfectly. From season 4 on it's like a new show almost because the storyline from Seasons 1-3 (mostly 2 and 3) wrapped up so perfectly that they basically extending it for the sake of keeping the show going (which of course I understand, you don't cancel a show in it's prime, but still....) It's still funny but a lot of the stuff that made the first three shows magical and dramatic, and awkwardly funny is gone. That being said, I still love the show and it was definitely cool to see moments like Jim and Pam getting married and having a baby. I just think Seasons 1-3 were like the perfect mix of comedy, romance, and drama. Seasons 4-8 are like the unnecessary sequel that doesn't quite match the magic of it's predecessor. |
