Yes, it would look cool in 3D. UltraViolet had good action and style to stay positive about it. The most memorable pop out in SH2 3D was when that evil stalker (alter ego of a character) stuck its blade right out of the screen, making me flinch back. A good number of those moments now that I think about it. I still have yet to finish Silent Hill Downpour 3D. Good game, but not enough time to play it. I like the tribute to that game [Show spoiler]

Sorry if this has been asked before but does anyone know why the 3D blu-ray is dated for Feb. 24th or 26th and the 2d blu-ray is dated the 12th?? Kind of sucks that we have to wait a bit longer to get the 3D disc. I assume the 3D in this film is worth it?? It will be a blind buy so any input on that subject??

As for blind buy advice:
If it's just for the 3D, the 3D is pretty good in this movie. Well-used for the most part and all native, save for some flashbacks/stock footage from the original that were converted from 2D (and bizarrely, some other flashbacks to the original that were just left flat). The only issue with avoiding conversion at all costs is that there are some uncorrected native shooting stereo errors still in the film; retinal rivalry occasionally occurs where there's a reflective sheen on an object in one eye and not the other, a couple of times color or exposure was mismatched between the eyes, and in the worst example, for a single shot one eye had straight, thick bands of light running through the entire image whereas the other was clean (presumably from an offscreen light source, possibly window blinds). These problems are pretty rare, though. Note I saw it twice in different theatres and the problems were present at both showings so it was not a projection issue. As for the movie itself... opinion is harshly split and leaning towards the negative. I for one was very disappointed; the script is horrible. It's one of those movies where almost every line of dialogue is exposition and characters practically break the fourth wall to stop and try to explain the plot, yet there are still massive plot holes by the end. Probably the most important question is: did you see the first movie and/or play the games? The script tries to explain everything but it doesn't always work, so if you haven't done either (or preferably both) there's a pretty good chance you'll just wind up totally lost with no idea what's supposed to be happening. Of course, it's set in a different continuity from the games and practically a different continuity from the first movie since it has so many contradictions and retcons. But sadly despite all the continuity clashes it still relies heavily on story elements from both and it's best you're at least somewhat familiar with them first. It just screws them up. All that said though, it's gory, there are some really effective jump scares and a tiny smidgen of suspense, the art design is really cool and creepy, the monsters are (mostly) pretty neat, and the music is great. The tagline was "Prepare for a 3D ride through Hell" and for once the tagline told the truth, just in a way I wish it hadn't. It's best to approach the movie as less of an actual story, because it fails miserably on that front, and just think of it as one of those haunted house rides at a theme park. There's gross and creepy stuff everywhere, it's cheesy but moves fast, and every once in a while you can expect to get startled by someone in a freaky costume. That's how I approached my second viewing and I enjoyed myself a lot more. It was just disappointing because the first movie actually had a pretty interesting and effective story, even if the structure was off. ...of course, I'm still going to buy it XP |

The 3D was strong. One of the best I've seen in theaters in 2012 for 3D. Great 3D layers here. Nice pop outs also. I was floored by the 3D, but will double check at home to see if it's just as awesome. |

The opening logo, "Davis Films" I think, had some amazing ash snowflakes falling around it, that popped way out of the screen, then revealing the opening scene. |

Apparently the movie is already available on iTunes and Amazon instant, but only in the US and in 2D.
Meanwhile, in France there's a limited collector's edition release of the two films together in a special box set that includes Blu-ray and DVD copies of both films (and a Blu-ray 3D copy of the second), a 36-page storyboard booklet of the second film, a poster and series of mini-posters for the sequel, and a Pyramid Head statuette. It's apparently Region B locked and limited to 1,500 copies. 150 Euros (140 at the moment as a pre-order discount), releases March 28th. It will also have all the special features from each individual French release. The sequel's release apparently has two hours of features including a 60-minute making of, Writer/Director Michael J. Bassett's audio commentary, deleted scenes (hopefully the scene with Rose in the elevator), "and more". Curse Region-B locking, I want those damn deleted scenes ![]() Amazon link: http://www.amazon.fr/Silent-Hill-R%C.../dp/B00AICFKZU |

Yes, hopefully we'll get director commentary at the very least, but the deleted shots would be nice also. 23 days till the release date. |

And actually Ziv, it did even worse in France than it did here. Opened #6 and was out of theatres in three weeks. So not sure why they get all the goodies. |
