Numerically by alphabetical value (A=1, B=2 etc) by color of cover art, so
BLUE
GREEN
RED
YELLOW
etc....

And if two cases are the same color, they go by year of theatrical release, and if they were released the same year they go by age of starring actor, and if it's the same actor, (ID4 and I-ROBOT) then it goes by supporting cast's date of birth........

It's very simple once you get used to it.

Orthographic means "having to do with spelling". So the example I have spells out the numbers before they're alphabetized.

"Sixteen Blocks"
Sunshine
"Three Hundred"

I probably should've just used the word "spelling".

For the record, I sort by digit since that's the way DVD Profiler does it, and it makes it simple to eyeball the spine and know where to put it on the shelf.

Had been doing it by number, but reading through this thread made me realize that digit may actually make more sense.

same here (in a way)

two groups seen (I saw that copy) and unseen (I did not see that copy)

seen are more or less random (but more or less oldest (seen before) to newest)

unseen movies are by play time shortest to longest (with box sets and TV series at the end). This way if I have 1.5h free or 2h or 3h it makes it easier to decide what movie to see. while when I watch older titles it is usually because I want to re-see that movie.

First by studio and then by preference. Favorite movies to the left.
