The absolute best tv money can buy is the Panasonic 150" plasma.

Now if you're talking about a reasonable budget, the Kuro Elite is THE best flat panel. Everything else is simply not as good.

I am personally not a fan of plasmas. XBR5's are nice and affordable, for most people

Amazon.com has the Mitsubihi 73" 1080p DLP HDTV for 2499.00 and the 65" for 1499.00 with no sales tax and free shipping. I have the 73" and it is in my opinion the best bang for your buck.

Hey what was that sony tv that was like $32,000. It was like 72 inches and you could only get it from the sony store. Well anyways, someone made a thread on it. I would like to have that one.

Without a shadow of a doubt, it's the Pioneer Elite KURO PRO-150FD 60-inch Plasma....if you can still find one --> it's an 8G Pioneer going out of production at the end of next month (The non-elite version is the PDP-6010FD).

Sometime between June-August 2008, the 5 Lumen 9G Pioneer's should be rolled out and the 60" Elite version will replace the old 8G as the ultimate HDTV.

In 2009 the 10 Lumen 10G panels will come out (Infinite Contrast Ratio) and then those will be the ultimate HDTV's... and they might even come in 80"

At some point in the future... SONY will eventually come out with a 50" OLED panel... then we'll have to see how they fare vs. the top of the line 50" Pioneer plasma display at the time... My gut feeling is that the OLED might be slightly superior but will be double the price vs. a 50" Pioneer therefore making them (OLED) ostentatiously expensive.... that is until mass production kicks in and prices come down to something more reasonable (by the time that happens I bet we are allready discussing the next best thing in newer upcoming technology).

P.S. The Pioneer KURO's are more expensive then the average panels but they are also at the very least twice as good... making the additional expense more then justifiable (they are also one of the only HDTV's that properly reproduce 1080P24).

I really don't think there is a big difference between the Elites and the non Elites PQ wise...If I was going to get a Pioneer I would stick with the non Elite and save some money to get it calibrated!!!

But that's the point. With the Elite, better calibration is possible, so I'd say if you're gonna spend the cash to get your TV calibrated, you might as well get the Elite.

To the OP: in the here and now, the 60" Pioneer Elite plasma is the best TV money can buy. I reckon the forthcoming Panasonic 850 will give it a run for its money, though.

There is absolutely no question that the Pioneer Elite Kuro 60" 1080P Plasma tvs are the best. XBR4/5's are 2nd in my books, with Panasonic Plasma, and Samsung LCD right behind.

+ 1 agree wholeheartedly..

The problem with the question in the thread is just "whats the best tv".. or how longs a piece of string..moneys got to come into the equation somewhere unless your names William Gates the third. For most folk the Kuro is THE best tv they could hope to afford..
