Default Home Theater Help

Hey Everyone

I have a sony ddw900 5.1 home cinema system, not great but it's okay. I do not like the speakers that come with the unit. Am i able to buy aftermarket speakers and use them on this system? If so what speakers would you recommend?

You can definitely replace the speakers. What don't you like about your current speakers? What type of setup are you interested in (towers, small speakers all around, mixture of the 2)? and of course, what is your budget?

You may just want to make sure what impedence the sony reciever outputs and what speakers you want to pair it with. If not you may have a problem on your hands equipment wise.

the sub is good, nice deep bass. i really hate the center speaker. the output level is so low even with the center channel turned to the highest setting, it makes it hard to hear the dialog, any suggestions?

Our story is a little different. I also had a HTiB, a Panasonic Home Theater Audio System. After I installed I was disliking the speakers(was not happy at all), I decided to keep it while I saved up money for something much better and moved from this apt to a house. I ordered the Onkyo 605 and like a kid I couldn't wait to hook it up. I kept the old speakers just to play around with the new reciever and I could not believe how well they sounded and are holding up. I mean talk about some cheap speakers that sound fantasic with the tweaks I did with the Onkyo.

Reading more and more post about the 705 or 805, I decided to get the 805 and love it. Even more tweaks to have really nice sounds until I move.

Almost forgot, I am only using 1 of the subs with less then half the volume and the bass in this apt with wood floors.

If you read my sig, you will see what I have sitting in my closet waiting to be installed. I think I will be installing something from my closet within the couple days just to see what I am missing.
