I've got the German edition and it looks amazing, Not trying to shite on the Second Sight release by any means (Always support domestic releases!!) but there are a fair few US members who were looking forward to this one being region free as originally stated.
What poster in the Australian section are you referring to?

Also, my understanding was that Wilson has since relaxed his opinion on the film - after adapting his own work into graphic novel form, and realising just how difficult it can be, to heavily streamline a lengthy book.

Edit: Sometimes I wonder about author's opinions of adapted work. The classic one is King complaining about The Shining - after the disaster that was Maximum Overdrive, I think King lost the right to be snooty or critical of other people's films.
I agree that there's always gonna be an ongoing debate regarding book-to-film adaptations, and I'm guessing that was one problem Mann faced while making the film, but I wouldn't be surprised if another big part of the problem was the studio stepping in and demanding various changes too.

As for the region B locking of the Scanners steelbook, I can understand your frustrations guys, but why not do what I did? Just head to your local Wal Mart and buy that cheap Seki BD660 player for 70 bucks? Problem solved.

I would buy the player in a heartbeat if I could, but I live in the States, and the player is only available in Canada from what I understand.

Really??? Sorry, I didn't know that. I just assumed stores across North America would stock them. Bummer! Maybe they're available to order online? Best of luck! It's a terrific secondary/back up player.

Its cool. I actually have a region free Blu-ray player, but I would want the Seiki as a backup. I have heard nothing but good things about it.

Actually I heard rumours that Criterion might release a blu ray boxset containing: They Came From Within (aka Shivers), Rabid, The Brood, and Scanners. Shivers has always looked pretty rough, so if in fact Criterion does get their hands on it, I'd be really anxious to check out the transfer!

Out of curiosity, if I ever decided to purchase the Seiki BD player in the future, could we work out an arrangement to where you could ship it to me?

Yep, allegedly Mann's original cut somewhere from 2.5 to 3 hours. The released film is just over 90 mins long. Without seeing the original version it's impossible to properly gauge the effectiveness of The Keep as a novel adaption.

I don't see why not But I'd have to check and make sure my local store had one in stock as they tend to come and go. Also would you need a voltage adapter? Sorry, I really have no clue if that would be an issue.

Any chance that these will include the UK Anchor Bay DVD extras:

Scanners
Inside Scan: Scanners
The Directors: David Cronenberg Documentary

Scanners 2
Inside Scan: The New Order

Scanners 3
Inside Scan: The Takeover

I'd like to be able to get rid of the DVDs and although the Inside Scan featurettes are around 10 minutes, it'd be nice to have them on the new releases and the David Cronenberg documentary is an hour long

I got my steelbook on monday, started watching it last night, PQ looks good, sound is okay, but still needed subtitles in one scene to even make out what was being said.

Ive never seen this film, its odd, acting is weird and seems like the voices are dubbed.

definatly not in the same league as shivers or rabid which are much better films (wish we had those on blu in the uk)

ill finish it tonight as i was too tired last night.
