Default Help With file convert

hello all and sorry for asking this again just wondering what is the website i need to go to in order to have my movies play on my playstation 3 though my external hard drive. most play but some don't and when i do the file convert i do it when on my pc correct?

Divx.com will be more than happy to sell you their conversion program. Once done the file should play just fine.

I'm sure there are others and possibly free ones out there, but I don't know much about them.

You would be able to transfer from pc to ps3 using a media server such as
tverstiy

i tried converting them through video 9 and they still will not work it took like 3 hrs per file

Go with red kawa - its the best free one - only downside is that it doesnt handle mkv files... For that try megui (if u can get it to work - this is by far the best encoding program)

do i download this to my pc or my ps3?
all my files are all downloaded on to my external hard drive some of the files do not play on my ps3 what steps do i have to do to get them to play

Converting non divx files to divx will cause quality to suffer.

It is best to stream them from your PC using Tversity. It will transcode non supported video types into supported video over the network to your PS3. The only downside to this is FF can be a bit sluggish because your PC is already using up cpu to transcode the video.

Really the best option is to encode the video to a compatible format from the source such as a DVD. You can use a program like Handbrake to encode DVD folders to Mp4 / h.264 files or many other options for Divx. I prefer h.264 personally.. it kind of seems to be the main native format the PS3 supports and prefers.
