Default PS3 Error Code 800299D2

Not sure if this belongs here or in the PS3 section but I'm sure it'll be fine.

I've been having problems with my PS3 recently in that it's suddenly decided that it doesn't want to play Blu-Ray movies any more. It'll load initially with the thumbnail coming up on XMB but if I try to play it, it'll give me a black screen for a few seconds before returning to the PS3 menu with "Error Code 800299D2".

Games and DVDs work fine, I've tried lots of Blu-Ray discs, all of which work fine on my PC.

I'm using the older PS3 Slim 250GB if that helps.

I've done a lot of Googling on this but couldn't find anything, I've also e-mailed Sony but they just linked me to a couple of useless troubleshoot pages. I'd rather not have to send it off to get it repaired or replaced since I may as well just buy a new Blu-Ray player, it would be cheaper.

So yeah, any help would be appreciated.

The first, and easiest, thing to do is go into safe mode and "restore the file system", and then "rebuild the database".

Here's how: http://community.us.playstation.com/...E/td-p/5812274

PS3 prices will be dropping soon, so you could get a brand new super-slim for a great price if you just wait a little bit. If it comes to that. Good luck!

Oh yeah, forgot to say that I've tried the whole Restore File System, Restore to default settings and all that. Not sure if I tried rebuilding the database so I'll give that a try, thanks.

Edit; Nope that didn't work.
