Default Samsung to have a <$250 player at Wal-Mart in Q3

From the digitalbits:

Quote:
Warren Communications News (subscription required) is reporting that Samsung is planning to have a Blu-ray player available for less than $250 at Wal-Mart stores later this year, probably in the third quarter.

Best news from the last couple of weeks. A lot of people are waiting for that sub $300 Blu-ray player.

I believe he meant Sylvania (Funai), not Samsung.

A cheaper player would get people off the fence, so this is good even though I'm no fan of Sylvania products.

Cheaper usually equates to lower quality. Having a bunch of dissatisfied people thinking Blue-ray stinks is not a good thing..in my humble opinion!

I'd have to say i have gotten away with murder taking stuff back at walmart...

years ago, i bought a venturer surround sound system(lol yes venturer, i was broke back on 2003 lol), anyway kept it from Feb to Dec and told them I wasn't happy it didn't have DTS and they exchanged it for a better JVC system at the time haha.

One other time, even earlier, I returned a TV that was about a year old and said I wasn't happy it only had one set on composite cable inputs and then let me exchnage as well. No refund of course but i thought I did well lol

You guys are so picky. It will go well with their Olevia and Vizio tvs . Anything to get people to stop buying dvd players and dvds is good for the format.

I just hope this is a NEW (profile 2.0) player and not an old profile 1.1/1.0 player.
The last thing we need is more confusion in the HD market.

No more BD 1.0 players can be introduced as of last November. Since that time BD 1.1 is the final standard specification for BD players. BD 2.0 is an optional specification with the enhanced BD Live capability. I fully expect the cheapest BD players to be BD 1.1 units (not 2.0).
