Warner Bros Barry Lyndon (1975)

Amazon Exclusive May 31rst:

Barry Lyndon Blu-ray

Barry Lyndon Blu-ray Review

I've been slowly collecting all of Kubrick's bd releases, and I just realized today that Barry Lyndon hasn't received the bd treatment. Any special reason why?

We have Cloclwork Orange, Shining, Full Metal Jacket, 2001, and Eyes Wide Shut... but no Barry Lyndon.

Barry Lyndon, Paths of Glory and Lolita were left out of the Kubrick Collection for no known reason. They didn't get new DVD editions either.

This is a must have...... Black and White or not.... it's just a great film.

Barry Lyndon, although a very well done film, is tough for me to watch..... 4 hours or so I believe........ I'm guessing even for a 50GB disc, 4 hours of HD is a LOT of content!

Barry Lyndon definitely isn't for everyone, and I can fully understand why some people would have an aversion to it (the pacing is so slow and methodical), but I love it. Kinda wish I hadn't sold off my DVD copy now.

Well I see I'm gonna have you set you guys straight. We all know the title that's most disappointingly not on Blu-ray is Spartacus!

Its criminal that this wasn't included with the Kubrick releases last year.

I would love to see this transfer on BLU I even thought when they remastered it for the most recent KUBRICK standard DVD set it looked even better than the first release. The photography was amazing... I am sure it is coming just a matter of time. I woudl think same with Lolita.

supposedly HDNet Movies DID air this in hidef when they did their Kubrick retrospect, I of course missed it, why Warners hasn't released is beyond me.

the movie was shot entirely with candle light and that's probably why it looks so beautiful and authentic, like a moving painting from the time. I think it would be glorious on blu

Default Barry Lyndon?

Any insiders here have any news on when Warner might release a Barry Lyndon BD? Next year will be the 35th anniversary.

With more catalog titles being announced every week/month, my hopes are up a little bit.

Maybe Spartacus will get a Criterion edition BD. I'd also love to see The Killing on Blu. I would hope that eventually all of the Kubrick and Hitchcock films would make it to BD.

10, 20, 25, 30 and 40 are all likely anniversaries providing suitable pretexts for releasing titles, but a 35th anniversary strikes me as scraping the barrel. I'd hope Warner would be aiming to release Barry Lyndon during this year, regardless of any approaching anniversaries.
