United Kingdom Limited releases.

Ok so what is classed as a limited print of a steelbook release. I mean Iron Man 2 target steelbook is limited to 30000. That's a lot in my opinion yet still it demands quite a high value. I would of thought there would still be loads left in the shop.
I thought limited runs were around 4000 print.
In the Uk there was a 8000 BB & TDK numbered edition steelbooks yet there still loads floating around the shops can't get rid of them 8000 is far to many to be a 'limited' run. Let alone 30000.
I would really like more numbered editions but if they were 1 of 1000 maybe. A number gives a little extra feel of exclusivity adds a little bit more excitement to the chase.

if you look at anything that is limited edition, music, collectibles it is defined by the fact that it is a limited number not by how many

I think the Blufans steelbooks that are limited to 1000 copies are what I would call limited. And maybe some Play.com steelbooks that were made 3000-4000 copies.
But items that were "limited" on a big scale like 35000 I wouldn't call "limited" anymore. Good example is that UK version of Harry Potter limited edition set with all the movies. They only glued some cheap looking piece of paper on it that says it's *some number*/35000 and in some cases that piece of paper wasn't even straight! . In my opinion that would be too big number to truly call it limited. After all, they don't product ANY item indefinitely.

True, but I myself personally wouldn't call it a true limited edition.

No, it is not a ''true'' limited edition. The quantity is too high.

I think limited to 1,000 is a true limited edition.

thats just your personal opinion, I have tons of items that are sold not just in the UK but also worldwide that have a higher number and are marked as limited editions.

As steelbooks become more popular then the chances of what you may consider is a true limited edition dwindle. Going forward only small boutique labels who can only afford small pressings will be the nearest to a true limited edition.

35000 must have been a good number, cant find it in store anymore so It would be limited. Considering only 1000 rio were made, it should be fetching Iron Man prices by now, not so much Its supply vs demand and If you produce a terd, no matter how limited it is, it will continue to be a terd down the road, limited Edition or not,

last 2 rio sold for 61.00......
http://www.ebay.com/csc/i.html?_from...mplete=1&rt=nc

not saying Rio was a terd but the demand for a kids movie is much less than the demand for an action flick from Marvel Comics

Everything is limited by the amount produced, the value depends on wether more are produced than the demand of the consumers, if there are more produced then the value goes down since they are readily available, if there are less then they go up in value.

I was wondering what were the product runs for some of the earlier blu-ray steelbooks. Like the John Rambo and the early Future Shop ones, those I think are limited... and rare. Does anybody know the number manufactured for those?

I think anything produced in the quantity of under or at 10,000 max would be what I define as limited.

Limited, regardless of quantity, means it won't be made for distribution at any time in the future.
What people "feel" is limited is totally a matter of opinion.

Exactly, which is why it's called a "Re-issue".

I call it 'BS'.

The Play.com one was a LIMITED EDITION. You said that the definition of LIMITED EDITION is that it won't be distributed again in the future.

Zavvi DID. I don't know who came up with this 're-issue', but it's just a weak excuse to earn extra money from something that was supposed to be a LIMITED EDITION.

I don't consider it limited anymore. Zavvi released it again, so it was not limited in the first place. They are messing things up if they keep releasing limited editions again. The whole meaning of LIMITED EDITION won't mean anything anymore.

Of course it's a way to earn money. Why do you think book go into multiple printings. It's the same concept.
