‘Evil Dead’ Sequel In The Works: SXSW

Onstage following a raucously well-received SXSW premiere of Sony’s Evil Dead remake, director Fede Alvarez announced that a sequel is being scripted. “We already started writing Evil Dead 2“, he said during a Q&A session at Austin’s Paramount Theatre. The April 5 horror release stars Jane Levy (Suburgatory), Shiloh Fernandez, Jessica Lucas, Lou Taylor Pucci, and Elizabeth Blackmore and is produced by original Evil Dead crew Sam Raimi, Bruce Campbell, and Rob Tapert.

At least that's what I read from Bloody Disgusting. The theory comes from the idea that Fede is penning an Evil Dead sequel, and Raimi is working on an Evil Dead 4 script, both are reveal back to back. It could lead to something.

For now that's all we get. We'll have to wait and see how things turn out from here.

Let's wait and see how the first performs. The Cabin In The Woods came out the same time last year with amazing reviews from critics and fans, but could only get to $42M domestically.

Judging from the trailers, they don't have the sense of humor to do Evil Dead 2.
They should call it Evil Dead 1 Pt. II, to avoid confusion.

Why? They haven't announced one. They actually announced they started work on a sequel to the new one, so it deserves a separate thread, doesn't it? It doesn't need to stay in the thread for the first movie at that point.
