Default Anyone here just rent their BDs?

Just curious to see if anyone here only rents their Blu-rays movies as away to save major coin. I know MANY people on here are hardcore collectors and such but there must be lots that only rent movies too.

I would guess about a third of us on here primarily rely on rentals. I'm about half and half.

I've only rented once, but I'll probably rent more when the day that I can walk into the video store and see nothing but blu comes.

I won't buy a movie I'll only watch once or twice (perfect example: No Country for Old Men) just so I can increase a meaningless count. It's silly. I buy the movies I know I like, rent the ones I haven't seen yet (then buy them at reduced price if they rock), and that's that. The one way I might get a movie I'm not crazy about is if it's part of a series. I may end up with X3 if they replace the Xmen trilogy on Blu, even though I'd never buy it alone. I have Spiderman 3 only b/c of Spiderman 1 and 2.

I mostly rent, but not to "save major coin". I do it because I have no interest in owning 99% of the movies released. That's not to say I don't like them, but rather I'm not interested in a second viewing. Babel comes to mind. I really enjoyed the movie, by I'm just not interested in a 2nd viewing. On the other hand, Resident Evil I bought. I've already seen it several times over the years and I know I will watch it several more times. For me I could win $300 million tomorrow and I still wouldn't build a Blu-Ray library.

I buy all of mine, have not rented in years. Last time I rented it was a game and a movie from block buster. The game skipped 20 mins in and the movie stopped 3/4 the way through. Both disc looked like hell when I got them home, I cleaned them up before playing them but got the resulst above. So that was it for me, no more renting of discs torn up by kids and others that don't care.

I rent most of the time.

I cant afford to go dishing out 50 bucks every time i want a movie.
Canada prices are a bit insane at the moment...

Both. I only buy the ones that I will watch repeatedly, and that isnt a lot. There are many movies that I consider fantastic, but cant imagine watching again. And, most that I buy are because of low end entertainment factors, i.e., good action scenes, great punchlines, nature docs.

I mostly rent and buy the good ones which usually turn out to be a lot thats why I have over 50 blus. I do like to see the movie before I buy it, I don't care for none of this blind buying.

Used to always rent. Took months to get new releases. Now I blind buy everything I am interested in, and sell or trade them here. I get part of my cost back, and the rest is all in the value of the happiness I get from watching new releases.

Default To buy or not to buy.......

I started renting again since the recent addition of a Blu-Ray player. It is becoming a real pain. No one seems to return Blu-Rays on time because there is no late fees. With the limited stock and copies, selection is minimal. Maybe through mail is the only way to go and yet I've read in here that is not all it's cracked up to be regarding Blu -Ray discs for many. But what choice do you have till they catch up with the demand.

"Save major coin?"

I just threw up in my mouth a little...

In order to save money, I get a lot of BDs via Netflix. I watch before I buy.
