I will be returning the player this afternoon and exchanging it for a new one. I will report back with the results of the new player later this evening.
Well I am happy to report with some good news. I purchased a new player and watched Rounders the whole way through without any problems. The sound never got distorted at all. I guess the first player I bought was just defective after all. Hopefully the trial and error I have put myself through over the last 3 days will help everyone decide weather or not they want to purchase this player

The unit converts all PAL material to NTSC, so there shouldn't be a problem.

Seiki does not list it on their site for some reason. I emailed them the other day inquiring about future firmware updates for the player, but I have yet to get a response. If you wish to buy the player online or get specs, go to Sears.com or Kmart.com. As far as Cinavia protection, I can't answer that for you.

That doesn't guarantee it converts 1080i50 > 1080i60. The Denon players that convert PAL > NTSC don't convert 1080i50 material, they output it natively.

Oh, well in that case, then I don't know. I have 1 Region B disc on my person, and the movie is 1080p while the bonus material is 480i. All I know is that one DVD I have in 576i PAL, converted to 480i NTSC without an issue.

All 2012 and 2013 standalone Blu-ray players are required to have CINIVA. Any new Blu-ray player that does not have the feature is in violation of their licensing agreement.

I never owned a BD660, so I can't compare the two. All I know is that the BD660 is a profile 2.0 player and the SR212S is a profile 1.1 player.

I checked the online pdf manual but there is nothing written about the conversion but I believe it will (I maybe wrong). Please note there is a P/N button on the remote too for Pal and Ntsc signals I believe.

I cant comment since my Sr212s is still in transit and I never owned the previous bd660 model but I am commenting here because in bd660 the USB slot is on the back so its a pain if you watch stuff from USB often but in this new model its on front. Also this new model is light weight compare to the previous model. Other than this basically both have the same functions.

I did a little digging and I found out that the BD660 does convert 50hz Blu-rays to 60hz, so this unit should be able to do the same.

Once we have a confirmation from a member, or a linked source, we can add it to the list.

https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=95245

The vast majority of movies in Region B will be 1080p24, there is a list of 1080i50 movies here - http://www.avsforum.com/t/1117941/li...red-in-1080i50

For the most part it will be music concerts and sporting events that come out in Region B at 1080i50. Radiohead's recent Live from the Basement is only available in 1080i50 and the Formula One Season Reviews have only come out in Region B locked and in 1080i50, bit of a pain but you quickly learn to differentiate between PAL > NTSC and 1080i50 > 1080i60!

I just picked up an SR212S from K-mart for $50. It's on sale at the moment but I don't know for how long. Anyway, I hooked it up and tried the listed region code operation and it worked fine. I played Dracula, prince of darkness and Quatermass from the UK and both played. Then I tried Sherlock, the BBC series from the UK and Strike Back and they work. Both of those are 1080i50 and they played fine.

The player itself is cheap looking and a little noisy(you can hear the disc spinning from a few feet away) but it was only $50! I like the build quality of my Insignias (Brdvd2)a lot more but those are getting harder to find. Anyway, I just thought I'd try out this player and let you know about my experience with it. So far it's okay and I'll keep it as a backup.

That is amazing that Kmart is now offering the Seiki SR212S for only $49.99 with free shipping (only profile 1.1). Hopefully future Seiki models with be profile 2.0 BD-LIVE with streaming services similar to some $48 LG Blu-ray models that Walmart was selling. If Seiki does decide to offer a firmware update to this model it will have to be installed either from the USB or an optical disc like a CD-R. I wonder how long it will be before this Blu-ray player goes out of production. Once the BDA discovers the secret region menu there most likely will be a new firmware update issued to remove that region menu or the player will go out of production.
Kmart

Kmart
Or the player key will be revoked and newer titles won't play without a firmware update.
