Just got done watching this

I was actually quite pleased with the picture quality, it added a lot of detail to what has been previously available.

The dialog for the first 10 minutes was quite hard to hear, so i think there could be some kind of improvement done on the audio side, but picture wise I was impressed.

As for the 'special' packaging, the slipbox is nice, and the main image of the man in the water has almost a 3D appearance to it, hard to explain, but if you see it in person, you'll get the idea.

Switched my order from Zavvi to Sainsburys, as it looked like my Zavvi order would never dispatch!

ive watched it twice. really pleased with pic actually.

the sound was a bit pinched but i guess its no different to what ive always been listening to.

pleased with this release, sstill have not got around to watching the extra yet. hopefully hill talks about the ridiculousness of some of the things in the movie. (dont get me wrong, the reason I like this film is for the stupidity and randomness of the characters )

Hill doesn't mention anything specifically, but he does talk about how the movie isn't reality, and that it's almost as exaggerated as something like The Warriors.

Did anyone else but me feel that the picture had a little to much DNR the first half in several scenes mostly up close and then more natural grain for the 2nd part and a bump in PQ along with that.

Anyway pleased with this release

Being that Second Sight released this, can anyone confirm if this has the work-around that RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD has (going to MAIN MENU will bypass the region B lock on ROTLD)?

Just got this in the other day. I have both the Second Sight and Shout Factory. Second Sight kills the Shouts by a landslide in IQ. The Shout disc is very dark the first 10 minutes. Really bad! Wished I bought this one at first =(

Personally I thought the Shout looked better, but the opening is very different in appearance to the Second Sight. Is it not meant to be darker as it's so early in the morning perhaps?

The Second Sight appears to have been filtered/DNR'd a little bit in some scenes, the Shout has better grain in this comparison for example:

http://caps-a-holic.com/c.php?a=1&x=...1&l=0&i=9&go=1

and here:

http://caps-a-holic.com/c.php?a=1&x=...9&l=0&i=8&go=1

Also, the white's have been clipped a bit in some scenes, so you see more detail in the sky here, as well as slightly better colour and overall detail:

http://caps-a-holic.com/c.php?a=1&x=...2&l=0&i=3&go=1

I also generally prefer the colour in the Shout, like in this shot, the green uniforms and skin tones look much better to me:

http://caps-a-holic.com/c.php?go=1&a...=83030&i=1&l=0

The Shout does appear to have been zoomed to fill 16:9 screens though, so you miss a tiny bit of image on the sides, but you get a bit more at the bottom. Ultimately, they aren't drastically different apart from the opening minutes, so whichever you prefer comes down to personal preference.
