I wonder if all this now being released as his estate has been finalised following his death. It would make sense that things was on hold while he was ill, so fingers crossed more to come.

IMDB states "The series was shot 16:9 on Super 16 film to "future-proof" it, but then entirely post-produced in 4:3 "centre cut-out", effectively chopping off vast chunks from the edges of the image. No widescreen versions, or even letterbox versions, were ever made."

So deffo possible! but how much demand is there for the expense is another question

Was all the post work done on video though? because if video masters are all that exist then wouldn't it need a TNG style remaster to make it HD.

I love space precinct it took me a long, long time to get the lot on DVD as the region 2 versions are out of print. I cant see space precinct getting a blu ray release anytime soon even this documentary is a big suprise to be honest.
Very underrated show

I used to really like this show (I bet it hasn't held up) and also thought about collecting the R2 DVDs a while back until the scarcity and expense of them put me off. I did used to have the action figures though - awesome tiny figures (4"?) that articulated at the knee and elbow joints.

Will be checking out this doc when I can, for sure.

I used used to watch this every Monday night on BBC 2 ; I don't know why, because I knew it was a bit crap even then (I was about 12). I think the amount money they spent on it and the bad reviews from critics (I seem to remember it being heavily criticised by Anne Robinson on Points of View) was enough to keep me watching it. I even bought some of the Pogs...
I will shut up now, because I'm starting to show my age.

I love cheesy TV sci-fi.

I have some of those! And the sticker book, and issue #1 of the Space Precinct comic (I think those two items came packaged together). I can remember thinking in my young mind how 'grown up' some of the episodes were - especially the notorious 'Cyborg' episode, where almost all the main characters were murdered!

That was probably the best episode!

Spoiler Alert!

Didn't Brogen go back in time to save them all in the end?

Another episode that I remember being pretty freaky was that one with the alien femme fatale ; she would fling her long hair over her head and the alien would morph (it was the 90's... If it was CGI, it was a morphing effect!) out of her back ; very H.R Giger inspired.

Spoiler!

But yes, he did.

I don't remember all the episodes so well any more, in fact I only remember the 'major' stories from the characters who got action figures (Cyborg and Snake). There's an Alien link to the Snake character too, right - didn't he have acid blood?

Sorry about the lack of spoiler warning ; I was gonna leave one, but I forgot.

I will re-edit it.

Man, I'd completely forgotten about this show. Just seeing the cover of that doc bought it all back! I also used to have my dinner in front of this, and had a fair few of the pogs too

Perhaps someone like Revelation Films would be tempted by something like Space Precinct? They're starting to release Andromeda in June.

I couldn't find a more appropriate place to state this but there is a DVD complete series set coming out from Network (UK) this month, I'm tempted to upgrade my current dvd collection (all the individual UK releases) as Network sets usually look decent but still it's a shame it isn't a Blu Ray box set

It is sad especially as Space Precinct from what I understand was filmed in widescreen and HD although the latter I might be wrong on. Needless to say it could look better on blu-ray.
