Default steelbook scratch

So I just received this steelbook the other day and was wondering if nayone had and tips of how I can make this scratch less visible?

Before anyone asks, yes I did know about the scratch before I bought it but for $17 you can't beat the price... especially since I have been holding out on buying this.

Something like a Sharpie marker might work, other than that no idea I'm afraid.

If you've got a steady hand, I find using a matching coloured nail varnish is pretty good. That way you still get a glossy look to the repair and no indent which you'd still have if you used a marker.

Put the varnish on using a very thin brush so as to only fill the area required. If it's too thick or you use too much then you end up with a raised area. It's swings and roundabouts really as to which bothers you more as it'll probably never be perfect. I have in the past used a marker to cover black areas and then put a very thin layer of clear nail varnish to seal it.

I may have to try this. I was thinking of that scratch remover stuff for cars, but don't want to risk ruining the finish.

Your best bet is leaving the damage alone as repairs are usually obvious and a bad repair devalues an item more than the original damage. If you have an extremely steady hand and can match the colour and finish exactly model makers enamel paints are best. An illuminated magnifying panel can help with fine work. Nail varnish is a possibility as it can be removed with acetone though I've no idea what either do to the finish on steelbooks.

I bet acetone or anything would take the original paint off the steelbook as well as what u put on it.

That wouldn't bother me in the slightest but to answer your question, unless you can match the paint and are confident of doing a good job I agree with what is posted above as in you could end up making it look worse.

I'd say find another damaged copy with a mint front cover and combine them and make one good one. I've done it a few times. I thought I saw a thread where you could buy/trade damaged steels, but I haven't seen it lately.

Thanks for all of the replies guys. I guess I can take TSGEE's suggestion and see if anyone has one with a damaged back side and swap out the front or just leave it alone. It does not bother ME too much but my OCD on the other hand...

It's an iron pack, so you won't be able to swap out the front. I have 2 copies of that avatar both with nice scratches on the front. One UK and one from China. Sucks but I say leave it alone. Scratches look worse when you try and fix em.
