Alright guys,
Just wondering if anyone else has the same theory... Now Blu is more prominent this year than last, especially with the HD DVD news and the like, are we more likely to see new tv seasons being released on Blu-ray with the DVD counterparts? I think we can pretty much say that Lost s4 and Smallville s7 (which I'm feckin' psyched about!!) will get Blu-ray releases this year with the DVD sets, but do you think studios will start branching out a bit? September-December is the main period when the last season of shows are released, to coincide with new seasons beginning to air. I believe we may see a few more shows get their latest seasons released in HD this year... Maybe CSI Miami s6 in October, Supernatural s3 and many more [that I can't name, seeing as I don't watch more than this lol]. I'm talking esablished, high profile shows. ( I'd only get Smallville s7 and CSI: Miami s6 anyway!) Yay or nay? |

CBS: "How I Met Your Mother" (Fox), "The Big Bang Theory" (WB), "Jericho" (Paramount), "Ghost Whisperer" (Paramount), "Moonlight" (WB).
NOTE: Considering "Season Two" of "Jericho" is supposed to come out on DVD in a couple of months, I don't expect it to show up on Blu-ray, but I'd LOVE a "Complete Series" set. ABC: "Samantha Who" (BVHV), "October Road" (BVHV), "Notes From The Underbelly" (WB), "Pushing Daisies" (WB), "Lost" (BVHV). NBC: "Chuck" (WB), "Heroes" (Universal), "Journeyman" (Fox), "Bionic Woman" (Universal), "Life" (Universal), "30 Rock" (Universal), "My Name Is Earl" (Fox), "The Office" (Universal), "Friday Night Lights" (Universal). NOTE: "Friday Night Lights" is coming out next month on DVD, and the show doesn't really benefit from HD as much as some, and I'm not really stupid enough to believe that "Bionic Woman" or "Journeyman" would be released to Blu-ray anytime soon... but I'm just listing my current shows I'd like to see on Blu-ray. Fox: "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles" (WB), "New Amsterdam" (Fox????). NOTE: I'm interested in "House, M.D." (Universal) and "Bones" (Fox), but it might not be an instant buy. The CW: "Reaper" (BVHV), "Gossip Girl" (WB? Paramount?), "Smallville" (WB), "Supernatural" (WB). EDIT: I forgot to add cable nets... DUH!! Sci-Fi: "Stargate: Atlantis" (MGM) and "Eureka" (Universal). NOTE: I had very little interest in SG:A when it was originally rumored to be coming to Blu-ray as I only had one of the SG-1 seasons on DVD, and I just didn't see myself buying much of SG:A either, but after DirecTV added Sci-Fi HD, I've been extremely impressed with SG:A's HD quality. USA: "Burn Notice" (Fox) NOTE: I'm just not impressed with the PQ of "Monk" and "Psych" on USA-HD so I can't really say the notion of them on Blu-ray excites me, but maybe Fox did a better job with PQ. BBC: "Torchwood" (BBC/WB) and "Robin Hood" (BBC/WB) NOTE: OK, so I watch "Torchwood" on HDNet, but I figured I'd kill two birds with one stone... and yes I am aware that RH is available to import. TBS: "My Boys" ABC Family: "Kyle XY" While I'm hoping that WB and BVHV release "Smallville" and "Lost" (respectively) again, I'm not really confident in the others. EDIT: Something to also take into account is the fact that Fox and Universal tend to favor starting at the beginning of a series instead of starting at the past season. Paramount alluded to a HD DVD release of CSI on HD DVD this year and TVShowsOnDVD.com were saying that they could start at the first season since it was the only season to be presented in Pan & Scan, so WB and BVHV might be the only studios to present the newest season on Blu-ray... though it's rumored that WB might also release "Smallville: Season One" on Blu-ray this year... Also to take note of is that Sony chose not to release "Rescue Me" on Blu-ray this time around... since I don't watch that show, it's not a big deal to me, but it doesn't spell real good news for getting some of these shows on disc. ~Alan Last edited by Alan Gordon; 03-22-2008 at 11:05 PM. |

I'm assuming Rescue Me: S4 will come out as S5 begins on FX.
I'd love for them to release all remaining seasons of the Simpsons at once on BluRay ![]() And yeah, I'd spank it to Eva Longoria on BluRay desperate housewives. Just sayin' |

High profile titles and then moving on down. Genre shows are far more likely than anything else to get the treatment.
Reaper is 50/50 since it's about 70/30 it's getting cancelled (boo!). Terminator, especially with only 9 episodes and almost certain renewel is very likely. Moonlight's got a shot But don't expect comedies or dramas to come soon that don't have some kind of major action element that can look real purty on Blu. |

Back to the OP post, I would love to see more TV shows on Blu-ray. I hope they start with some of the shows already mention coming to Blu-ray. 24 Stargate Atlantis. They could also release Supernatural Terminator: Sarah Conner Chronicles. Heroes Chuck I’ve stop buying most TV shows on DVD so I would like to start seeing some earlier Seasons release on Blu-ray too. Last edited by MasterXeus; 03-21-2008 at 08:33 PM. |

I held off on buying BSG Season 3 when it came out this week on DVD. Come on UNI, get it together and announce something!
Would also like to have Dexter Season 2 and will buy the new seasons of Weeds and Rescue Me as well. Speaking of Rescue Me, has anyone heard when the new season will start? It seems like F/X has been pretty quiet regarding that show lately, and I was getting worried that there might not be another season. |

The first season of the Tudors is already available on Blu-ray with a region free version from Great Britain. The transfer looks very good and is available right now from Amazon Uk.

I want to see Chuck, House M.D, Journeyman, Life, and Pushing Dasies on Blu-Ray. Chuck and House would be nearly instant buys for me. I love those two shows. Since Journeyman already got cancelled, I don't expect to see it on BD.
