Default Trouble playing Hitman and IRobot

I bought Hitman and IRobot from Amazon and neither on will play on my Samsung BD-P1400. The IRobot has nothing that comes up and Hitman pulls up the Samsung main menu instead of any part of the dvd. Is anyone else having these troubles?

On a side note I this is the 5 and 6th bluray I've had troubles with over 3 different modeled blurays since the release. I've also had 2 hd dvd players and haven't had one problem with any of the discs. I just love that bluray won the format war(sarcasm).

check your firmware. Id be willing to bet those two have bluray 1.1 or higher profiles.

On a side note i use a ps3 which takes care of all the firmware updateing, and for its price its probably the best blu ray player if for no other reason then firmware updates are automatic

what firmware are you using? These are both fairly new releases and since you probably just made the leap to bluray you might not have yet made the upgrade to firmware version 1.6 which was released on feburary 29th. The links to the firmware are on this site but I would suggest that you visit samsung's website for instructions.

On a side note I understand you are frusterated but given that this is a blu-ray fan site you might not want to add disparaging remarks about blu-ray. Personally I don't care but some people here are very sensitive.

I just downloaded a new firmare about 3 weeks ago because I had owned Live Free or Die Hard since November and just got to watch it a few weeks ago when the new firmware came out. I would get the PS3 for a bluray player but it cant be remotely controlled through my home controller without major troubles.

No offense to the PS3 owners but I'd also rather deal with these issues than support the Playstation.

To get back on topic have you verified that your firmware is version 1.6

I will have to double check. If a new firmware came out in the last 3 weeks than I probably dont have the latest one. When I get home tonight I will check.

It was almost exactly 3 weeks ago so. Feb 29th. Not sure if you ended up with the older version or the newer one.

I understand the frustration, but the best thing to do is check the firmware version.

Also, on a side note I have a PS3 and have not had any problems getting any disks to play.

Keep in mind that if you have not updated the firmware since you bought it, it's probably at least 3, probably closer to 6 months old
