USA Best Period Films

What are the best films that define a period in history. For example, it can be a film that portrayed 18th century France or England with their locations and costume designs. It can just as well be a 70s, 80s and 90s movie that defined what the 70s, 80s and 90s were all about. What are the best period films?

The Duellists is a very interesting look at Napoleon's France.

Easy Rider represented the mindset of the late 60's fairly well.

If you give me specific the year, war, and/or event I can give you the best representation on film.

Wow, great collection. I really don't have a specific time period of world event. I'm open to pretty much anything that has good production values and acting.

Well, I need something specific since I am a historical person. One of my degrees is in history. For example, if you said American Civil War I'd tell you Gettysburg, Gods & Generals, Glory, and The Horse Soldiers.

My favourite genre is British period drama, so my collection might have something which interests you.

I feel as though Good Burger truly captured the essence of what times were like back in 1997.

Which films do you recommend that represent the Medieval and Renaissance period?

Not really. A film could be the best representation of a period, and still be a bad film
