Ok...let me just get this straight...this so called DTS-MA upgrade is going to enable the PS3 to DECODE it, NOT bitstream it...correct?

I say right after, or at the same time when the new BD players are out in the summer.

absolutely correct. In fact the ps3 (20, 40, 60, and 80 GB) will never be able to bitstream but WILL be able to Decode with a firmwire update.

It'll happen soon so there's no point in this thread.

Well...seems like this would be better than only being able to bitstream. It eliminates any issues with the receiver not being able to decode. Would there be a situation where it would be best for the ps3 to bitstream it?

I don't know of one. I just know that internal decoding works for me. One still needs and HDMI capable receiver to get the full capacity of lossless sound though. I could be wrong.

yeah I know, but if it was multiple choice, it would defeat the purpose of the poll... heheheh (god I love that avatar)

You are right where the PS3 is concerned. You would need a Reciever with HDMI 1.3 capability to utilize it.

seriously, if I'm pissed, or just bored and I look at it. Things just get better. The funniest part is that I've never even seen an episode of the office.
But between you avatar and this one guy's sig of Steve Carrell's character being asked if he would want people to love or fear him and he says" Both. I want people to be afraid of how much they love me." just makes me laugh everytime.

I sincerely believe the answer is NEVER.

But Sony will add DTS HD MA on the upcoming 120GB/160GB PS3 consoles.
