I'm assuming this is only talking UK. And their 20 MB download service is showing as 37 per month - wonder what the 50 MB will cost.
So assuming you want to pay through the nose for even more bandwidth and you want to go with Virgin as your provider, you can do downloadable movies in 30 minutes? And they still don't see how this isn't gonna work? ![]() No get one or two of the major internet providers in an area to increase bandwidth and drop rates - then DLs may catch on. I just don't see people shelling out a lot more a month for bandwidth they may not need for anything other than downloadable movies - it's like an extra BD every month or two... |

When they say 50MB service, do they mean that I can download 50MB/sec?
I'm on a 3MB service right now and only usually see speeds around 150kb/sec (and almost never more than 300kb/sec), so what actual speeds would someone see from a 50MB/second connection. Using the same percentages as mine, I'd think about 2.5MB-3MB/sec. This equates to about 2.6GB in 15 minutes. Pretty dang small for a HD movie. Plus how many of those 9 million would actually be willing to spend the money on that kind of connection? Their 20MB plan is already £37.00 a month. Downloads have a long way to go still. |

I'm so sick of M$ shoving that HD DL s*it down our throats. The movie is only gonna be in a compressed file and where is the extra stuff in the movies? Will there be any lossless sound? Will it still be only 720p instead of 1080p? Will there be any point on doing this? We, as people, have a right to choose and I choose optical discs for my viewing pleasure, thank you very much.
