Germany LAWLESS - (Germany Steelbook)

Not sure if there is a thread open already but this steelbook was just released.

Lawless german steelbook, it actually looks nice. I guess the main question here is..... is it region Free or at least A???

hope it is region free since the UK one was not.

The other question is where can we order this steelbook from???

Not sure about region coding, but I think it is a MM exclusive which means you would have to know someone or have a GB. If it is region free or region AB I would like to get since I like this a little better than the UK play.com one.

I have a copy coming but I asked on the german forum to see if anyone has tried the disc. It says "B" on back so it may be region locked. Koch is 50/50

Will it not be available on Amazon.de like most other German steels?

Also, what does the back look like? Germany is notorious for completely ruining otherwise very nice steelbooks by putting foreign text "j-card info" on the back as print.

Dark of the Moon is an exception. Super clean artwork on that one from Germany. The Dark Knight trilogy is also clean from Germany.

When will they get the memo that zero collectors want that text? These steelbooks go around the world. They must know that by now. But even German collectors that speak and read German and live in Germany prefer clean artwork over messy German text and movie/studio details. The title of the movie (in English), and maybe the names of the stars, since the movie is American made, and the actors in it speak English. That is all that is needed on the cover of a steelbook of a movie produced in the English language.

Well if that's the case, then great! But they need to get "DIE GESETZLOSEN" off the front. The movie is called "Lawless". It is not a German film.

Other than that, I think the front looks great, maybe even better than the UK steel.

Pretty sure it's a printed back and not on a j-card. If you'll look at the last page in that thread that Smigro linked to, there's a different set of pictures with the flash bouncing off the back of the steel and no mention from anyone of a j-card

do not get your point.

should cool new exclusive UK steelbook of John Woo's The Killer read "Dip huet seung hung" - bet you would be complaining then too ...

or you maybe one of those that cannot watch a subtitled movie ... just wondering ...

point 2 - translated books having only original name on the cover in US (because they are not English books) - how would that look like ?

for me German steel having German language on the cover is ... pretty obvious.

*sigh*

I love Pan's Labyrinth (all in Spanish of course), and considered getting the steel with El laberinto del fauno on the front, since that is the native and original name. I ended up with the Gold Academy slip since I found a mint one, but that's beside the point.

The fact is, these steelbooks are a hot and valued item aournd the world, and the reason UK always dominates Germany in the steel market is because of what I am saying. UK keeps English speaking movies in... English.

It's the same thing with CA Futureshop releases. Why on earth do we need "SACRIFIES 2" on the spine of Expendables 2. Why do we need "Le Commando des Batards" in tiny parentheses underneath the real title? Ask 100 collectors that speak and understand the French language and live in Canada if they like it that way.. 99 or maybe even 100 will say no.

My overall point is... almost nobody, including the collectors local to the language text, prefer the "foreign" text on the steelbook.

-- what do you base this opinion of -- asked German, French etc ... ?

again : if a steelbook or what ever is released on some country - it's natural for me to have title in their language ... English is not the ruling language of the world - you know ?

please comment the name titles of the books released in the US... ?
