Default Is a "Pass-through" Reciever a Bad Idea?

Hey all, I recently bought a new reciever. The Sony 7.1 STR-DH520. Its labeled as a HD Audio Decoder and can handle all the formats of TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio. I've had it for about 2 weeks and am happy with it, not withstanding few minor bugs that i'm still working out. Today i casually glanced at the box which is still on my floor and noticed a feature written on the side entitled, "HDMI 3D pass-through. Can anyone educate me on what this means? I dont have a 3D tv so im not sure if im even affected by this. Thanks!

It just means it will "pass-through" all of the information that is received to the output. The 3D part is called out because it supports at least the 1.4 HDMI spec (when 3D was added).
