EXACTLY 20 years ago, Brandon died. The movie was and still is a masterpiece, but I would like to see a proper Director's cut on HD featuring all the cut scenes with Brandon. That should be done to preserve his legacy even more. I'm wondering why they didn't do this yet... are the film negatives of the cut footage lost forever? I guess not.

I very much doubt that this will happen.
Theres a load of cut scenes available on you tube for your viewing pleasure. Hardly anyone connected with the film including the director talk about the film due to the events that happened during production. If it ever was to happen they could do it like the extended version of the punisher with the animated opening sequence but as it would be sequences throughout the film it may be too distracting for some. |

I wold assume they'd want Alex Proyas involved. When I interviewed him for the Dark City junket way back when , he said he pretty much washed his hands of The Crow, considering what happened. Unless he's changed his mind, I wouldn't count on any other cut besides the theatrical.

Now Im not bashing either as I like the crow a lot, just dont mention the sequels. Theres hardly anyone that knows brandon lee for anything but the crow in his filmography. Apart from showdown in little tokyo, if you were to ask a general brandon lee fan what they thought about soldier of fortune, kung fu : the legend continues or rapid fire they would probably look at you in a quizzed way. As for the fact that he was bruce lees son, it was something he actively avoided wanting to be known for as he wanted to be known for his own abilities as opposed to being famous for being bruce lees son. Im guessing there came a point in time where he had to compromise to further his career. Like showdown in little tokyo and rapid fire ( i remember a scene in a laundry where he wears glasses which was similar to a scene from a bruce lee movie). The crow was going to be a springboard for other roles for him and its a real shame what happened, all due to budget constraints. |

The movie was a generational landmark, sorry I don't agree.

A cult film that grossed a measly $50 mil is a cultural landmark? 1994 had it's share of cultural landmark cinema — Forrest Gump, Pulp Fiction, The Lion King — but I wouldn't say The Crow was one of them.
