Games Recommendation for PS3?

Are there any first-person shooter games or racing games that are exclusive to the PS3 platform? Either already in store or upcoming? I got a PS3 mainly for movies but I would like to try out some good PS3 games. I tried out a few games like Area 51 and Burnout but dislike both.

Also, the games should not have any static graphics onscreen during gameplay as my PS3 is connected to a plasma ( you know, reduce IR/burn-in risk ). Thanks.

P/S : Does Sony sell a bigger game controller? I hated the existing one because it is so damn small and hurts my hands playing with it.

Resistance: Fall of Man is a great FPS game that's exclusive to PS3. Ridge Racer 5 is an easy racing game to play and looks real nice in 1080p.

Your request is an oxy-moron within itself. You want an FPS or racing game but not a game that has static images. Both of those styles of games have static images directly in the bottom middle of the screen.

As for recommendations...

FPS = 'Unreal Tournament 3', 'Uncharted' (over the shoulder, but only online is fun), 'COD4' (heard it's very easy single player though), 'Resistance: Fall Of Man', and a number of upcoming titles including 'Metal Gear Solid 4'.

RACING = 'Gran Turismo' and 'Grid' are coming out in the future. Otherwise, there isn't much in the way of quality racing out there at the moment. 'Ridge Racer 7' is fun at first but gets boring eventually.

I highly recommend trying to find somebody in your circle that might have access to 'Rock Band'. 95% of people that try it fall in love with it.

I've thoroughly enjoyed Resistance: Fall of Man, The Orange Box (particularly Portal--wicked good fun), and I'm getting into Uncharted now. RFOM is very fun in co-op mode. I also just ordered COD4 cuz of all the positive press on this site.

As for racers, I don't own any (Pixeljunk Racers only), but I really like the Burnout Paradise demo. Burnout Revenge was one of my fave Xbox 360 games.

The sony controller's haven't changed since the playstation 1, due to it's overwhelming popularity. But, you aren't the first person I've heard that doesn't appreciate it's design.

Video games and plasma TVs really don't go hand in hand. I can't think any game that does not have some sort of static image. If your plasma is latest-gen, burn-in shouldn't be a problem as long as you've logged at least 100 hours on your set. I would still avoid extended gaming sessions however, moreso if your TV is last-gen. Pretty much the key with games + plasmas is take frequent breaks (30m-1h) and switch the TV over to something else.

I'm a big racing fan. Gran Turismo 5: Prologue ships in April and it is a MUST HAVE. I just finished Ridge Racer 7 as well. Pretty good game if you're into arcade-style racing, and very good graphics. I think its one of the few 1080p/60 games out there.

Thanks guys! I think I will get "Resistance : Fall of Man" for a start.

BTW, does this game allow you to save at stages or only half you complete a chapter? I don't like games to force you to restart from the beginning of the level and play thru the whole thing again. :-)

Yes, that's my concern also. My plasma is a new gen plasma but I'm still worried about burn-in. Maybe I will limit it to 1/2-1 hr play each time to avoid burn in.

Each level has "checkpoints" that save your progress. The game itself is not SUPER hard, so you shouldn't have many instances of needing to restart.
