I just can't figure out what they are going to include in the Extended Editions of The Hobbit that would make the film 'better. I really felt that Jackson had crowbarred everything of merit into the first film, so that anything else is going to be surplus to the story.

I fully expect the extra's on the EE to be first-class of course, and is the sole reason i am buying it rather than the theatrical verision. Seeing as no-one is really complaining about the lack of decent extra's on the Theatrical release, Jackson seems to have made a wise choice, marketing-wise.

I do agree that there is not much he could add that would improve it and a lot of people feel some should have been removed to make the film better. I just love seeing Middle-Earth on film though and another 15 minutes will be a nice addition in my opinion.

Yeah that's the real reason I want it. The EE of LOTR are fantastic and if they go into as much detail on this then it's worth the wait for me.

I know some of the scenes that were removed and will be in the extended cut.

One is at a party where Bilbo is a young boy. Gandalf is the same as he always is. He magics up a tiny dragon and can see by Bilbo's reaction that he is more curious and adventurous than normal Hobbits. Ian McKellan said that it was one of his favourite scenes to film.

I reserved a £15.99 copy of The Hobbit 3D at HMV Stockport today. All their systems are now allowing reservations again.

Did they confirm the price is £15.99? I'm a little wary of cancelling my Sainsbury's £18.99 order in case the photo above turns out to be wrong/a joke.

Why would it be a joke?

Because it had 2 mugs in it. That's what HMV think of it's customers half the time, a couple of mugs...

It looks legit though.

Yep the guy got it up on the system and it was listed as 3D £15.99. The mugs were in the picture because if you reserve (or buy?) you get £2 off a mug. I already bought them so didn't bother asking about that.

People have odd senses of humour! Especially bored teenage members of staff. Wasn't doubting your post per se, just the person who posted it on Twitter originally.

Just seems too good to be true, that's all, hence double checking before I cancelled a decently-priced pre-order. Will reserve a copy tomorrow. Thanks for letting me know, prophecygirl.

Went into HMV Cheltenham today and they did indeed have pre-order copies of the 3D release at £15.99. HMV come back swinging by offering the 3D Hobbit set far cheaper than anywhere else, awesome! It just better be that price on release day, as i wasn't planning on pre-ordering it!

Pre-ordered and, again, confirmed to be £15.99. This is like the old days! Pre-ordering a video from a shop (used to be for a pound and Smiths would give you a free T-shirt when you collected it - those were the days) and buying a new release from a shop on day of release? Happy days.

Preordered mine from asda direct, still doesn't say dispatched, I was hoping it would be posted today. Typically, where I live, royal mail are crap so I'm hoping it does get posted out today.
