Default New Sony titles on the way...

...Sony is also gearing up to maybe announce a handful of summer releases comprised of a diverse selection of films and the return of a previously announced-then-cancelled title. If all goes well, look for the following titles to be announced shortly:

# Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon
# Desperado (1995)
# Lawrence of Arabia (Restored Version)
# Osamu Tezuka's Metropolis
# Shottas
# White Chicks

Check back regularly as more information becomes available.

Does anyone know how many titles Sony Pictures has released and officially announced year-to-date? I'm just curious what their pace is and if they'll be able to hit the 100 titles in 2007 that they promised at CES. I'm guessing we'll see somewhere in the 75-85 title range for the year, but I could be wrong.

white chicks?!?!?!? come on people. norbit, little man, white chicks. waste of time and resources. those movies need to be forgotten, not released on blu-ray. both the wayans and eddie murphy need to think really hard before they make any more comedies.

with all the great movies that people will actually buy why must they choose these bottom of the barrel releases.

all the other sound good though. L.O.A. epecially.

just cause you don't like a movie doesn't mean others will not enjoy it or want it. To each his own. Granted white chicks and littleman won't win any awards but I enjoyed both movies. Not the best movies in the world but had entertainment value for some. Also possible the royalties to make movies into Blu-ray/HD-DVD may be cheaper with the not so steller movies.
I'd think the studios have to purchase or work a deal in order to get the movies to HD format and on the blockbusters it probably costs more.

I bet Mr. Tomlin is so creaming in his pants right now. If he had to, he'll work at McDonalds for a week just to be able to afford that title.

Meanwhile, since independent BD replicators could not replicate BD50, porn titles Lawrence of Gayrabia and Lawrence & My Labia have been delayed indefinitely...

Thumbs up

I'm all over Crouching Tiger and Lawrence of Arabia. Both classics that I'll never get tired of watching, and I can't wait to see how they look with the blu-ray treatment.

I honestly didn't think about how much they have to pay for these vacuums of intellect passed off as movies. although to be fair, some people will like them. but I personally feel that maybe 1% of people will have this at the top or near the top of their must have list. i've seen more requests for howard the duck than little man or norbit. :-)

LOL, first time I ever watched Lawrence of Arabia was this weekend. My wife asked me what I thought about it and I answered that it was like Brokeback Mountain in the dessert. I didn't know that people are actually calling it Lawrence of Gayrabia?

I totally agree. Plus, I have heard that Norbit was better. It was all over the radio stations, in Atlanta, talking about how funny it was.

No, that is the title of a gay p*rn DVD. Lawrence of Arabia is a classic, and has no footage of men groping or having sex with each other, so it's really odd that you thought it was brokeback mountain in the desert. Especially since it is a rather accurate portrayal of arab tribalism during British imperialism. Not to mention T.E. Lawrence was an actual figure who helped shape Middle East history.

The 6th season of Sopranos on the other hand you have my permission to call brokeback vito.
