Default Dynamic EQ & Dynamic Volume

I'm planning on recalibrating my system tomorrow. Do any of you use these features? If so, how do you find it and during which scenario would you recommend it?

Dynamic Volume is the latest attempt to equalize volume levels when changing programs.

Dynamic EQ is designed to optimize sound when playback is done at less than reference. A soundtrack designed to play very loud in a theater may not sound so good when played at lower levels at home. Dynamic EQ tries to adjust for the differences.

If you have an AVR with Audyssey and your running either the Audyssey movie curve, or the Audyssey music curve,
you need to engage Dynamic EQ, if you watch movies below reference level, if you expect to get any bass out
of your subwoofers.

I would avoid using Dynamic Volume.

Yeah, I have an Onkyo receiver with Audyssey. Today, I recalibrated my system and I turned off Dynamic Volume. Turning it on makes loud scenes a bit too quiet and the quieter scenes a bit too loud. The dialogue sounds blurd/screechy as well. Moreover, the crisp sound of a lossless track is gone. Everything sounds muddy and a few minor details are lost as well.
I turned on Dynamic EQ as without it, the sound collapsed to the front.
Polk speakers sound a bit too bright so I set the treble to -2Db. This isn't a problem, right?

These are my crossover settings:
Center 40hz
The rest : 70hz
Sub LPF : 120hz

Any suggestions?

I like Dynamic EQ on as well. Even though the sound might be more true with it off but just sound a little boring hehe (at least below reference level).

Are those crossovers what Audyssey gave you? These settings are what Audyssey found was the absolute lowest your speakers could go. Try going with 80Hz for all your speakers instead. 120Hz for the sub is fine.

I would change all of your speakers crossover settings to 80Hz.
The sub 120Hz crossover setting is correct.

Where did Audyssey set your subs level at?

Also you should strongly consider getting a second subwoofer.
You'll get smoother bass response and tackle the negative effects of standing waves in your room.
