Default There was a break-in at the VUDU offices and a number of items were stolen

quote

"There was a break-in at the VUDU offices on March 24, 2013, and a number of items were stolen, including hard drives. Our investigation thus far indicates that these hard drives contained customer information, including names, email addresses, postal addresses, phone numbers, account activity, dates of birth and the last four digits of some credit card numbers. It's important to note that the drives did NOT contain full credit card numbers, as we do not store that information. If you have never set a password on the VUDU site and have only logged in through another site, your password was not on the hard drives. While the stolen hard drives included VUDU account passwords, those passwords were encrypted. We believe it would be difficult to break the password encryption, but we can't rule out that possibility given the circumstances of this theft. Therefore, we have reset all customer passwords."

Took about three minutes to change password with most of that being waiting on the password change initiation e-mail.

Vudu is a great streaming app that, imo, is way better than Netflix. They should start a streaming plan. I would cancel Netflix immediately. I think it was probably people from Netflix that did the break in.

The only reason I use it is because movies are now coming w/ a free digital copy linked between VUDU, UV & Flixster. I would never pay for a digital copy, but will take free ones. So VUDU has no actual credit card info on me in their system.

It is nice to see you living up to your name.

Yep. It's the best streaming service.

Anyway. Why did it take them this long to report this to us if it happened on the 23rd of March?

Unfortunately almost all security breaches take forever before the victims (the users) find out. Gotta run the press announcement through enough VPss, lawyers and consultants to make sure their backsides are well covered first.

VUDU quality beats Netflix. They are #3 in market share for streaming, ahead of Sony and Amazon.

Just changed my password on VUDU and noticed a prompt to sign up for Ultraviolet. I have been collecting the little yellow stickers and inserts on my Walmart purchased BDs for some time now and I decided to give it a try.

Couldn't be easier. I redeemed The Thing 1982 and Killing Them Softly. They appeared in My Movies on VUDU immediately for streaming or downloading. HDX (1080P) and PCM 5.1. I played a few minutes of The Thing. PQ and AQ was not bad at all.
