i dont see a point in this poll no offense but the month that gets the most votes sony isnt going to deliver it that month so why bother

So I've seen many comments about DTS MA-HD and I've never experienced a Blu-Ray with it until the other day-- Mr. Brooks. I knew from all the posts that PS3 does not support this codec.. but I chose it anyway. So basically.. what happened? What was the codec I actually heard?

My receiver displayed MPCM.

To put it simply, you heard the core DTS 1.5Mbps soundtrack. The ps3, since it can't decode the full HDMA soundtrack downconverts to the core.

Gotcha. How much big of a difference is the full HDMA track? The audio was pretty sharp on the core.

you know it's funny I've never actually heard HDMA only the core, so who knows. I suppose it would sound similar to PCM... there are many threads that have discussed which lossless sound is the best. Personally, any lossless track is great with me. Can't have HiDef picture without HiDef sound.

Completely agreed. The sound was amazing, and I can't think of how it could get better than that.. unless you're REALLY REALLY looking for things.. which most people don't do in movies.

But HD sound is certainly amazing.

I had posyted another thread the other day...but I had watched i am legend and realized I could press audio on the remote and for the first time in my 2 months of owning the ps3, changed the sound to true hd. What a Friking difference. Cant believe i was watching all these movies in the past with the core dolby digital sound. Duh. So, if this audio format is better than true hd, holy moly it would be amazing.

Off topic....the scene in the staircase of his house in I am legend when the creepy guys are screaming... WOW. That has to be the most intense sound my speakers have ever given me.

that's just creepy thinkin' about it... I'm actually waiting to purchase I AM LEGEND until the price goes down (could be months, I know) but I really do wanna see the alternate ending!!

It's lame...I was so dissapointed in it. The original one is far better and fits the story, unlike the alternate.

I beg to differ. Though I haven't seen the alternate ending, the original ending was a let down. It's not for me. The alternate ending may be the way to go for me. The ending killed it for me when I saw it in the theatres.

The ending is crucial. If it sux, (the orginal did in my opinion) then the whole movie goes waaaaayyyy down in my books. If it's great (hopefully the alternate), then the movie is elevated and very rewatchable.

Just my two cents.

Theres always a possibility that the alternate is worse then the original.
