Default Disney titles coming later this year...some pushed till 09

Bill made another post for today about Disney titles:

Last week we updated you on some of Fox and MGM's upcoming Blu-ray release plans for later in 2008. Now, Buena Vista Home Entertainment has just sent over its updated Blu-ray Disc release schedule for the next few months. As you know, Hidalgo, M. Night Shyamalan's Unbreakable and the Coyote Ugly: Double Shot Edition street on 4/1. The theatrical version of The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe is tentatively due on 5/13 (the street date may change slightly). The National Treasure: Collector's Edition and National Treasure: Book of Secrets both follow on 5/20. June will see the Blu-ray release of The Recruit and M. Night Shyamalan's Signs, both on 6/3. Martin Scorsese's Gangs of New York is now confirmed for Blu-ray release on 7/1. And Sleeping Beauty is currently set for 10/7. Additionally, the straight-to-video sequel Tinkerbell is due in October as well. Obviously, a number of new theatrical films will also be released on Blu-ray Disc in 2008. But here's a few new titles for you: Studio sources have confirmed that a Nixon: Election Year Edition and Good Will Hunting are both on the way for later in 2008. We've also learned that Kill Bill 1 & 2 and Finding Nemo are now being planned for release in 2009 on the format. You probably have questions about these titles, particularly Kill Bill, but no more information is available at this time. Obviously, it's way too early to talk about specific street dates, version and special features. Just know that they ARE on the way. And again, even though this information comes directly from studio sources, you should still consider it Rumor Mill-worthy until the titles are officially announced.

Glad to see these are coming, hate to see these are pushed back. Hope there are many more coming

Screw this. If Kill Bill 1 & 2 finally see the light of day on Blu-ray in Europe sometime this year, I'm gonna be importing them. I'm tired of waiting for a "possible" U.S. release.

I doubt they'd miss the holiday season with Nemo... shouldn't the word 'Rumor' in the title?

considering the duo of ratatouille and cars cleaned up well during the holiday season, disney would be nuts not to try that again. nemo with wall-e would be a bonanza.

Well, as much as I love Finding Nemo, I would rather it be The Incredibles and Wall-E.

We still dont know for sure if Wall-e will make it out this year, I hope it does though. I have a feeling disney is planning on 2009 being a Pixar year. Hopefully they release the rest of their titles in 09 as well.

Sucks that FINDING NEMO (the best Pixar movie IMO) and the KILL BILL movies won't be here till 09, but I am psyched that GANGS OF NEW YORK is coming to Blu-Ray on Canada Day. That'll be FOUR Martin Scorsese movies on Blu-Ray that I'll have. If RAGING BULL is announced and if Universal miraculously issues THE LAST TEMPTATION OF CHRIST with all the Criterion extras on it, then that'll be all the Scorsese movies I have.

I might even pick up SIGNS. It's the one M. Night movie that doesn't piss me off.

I think it's safe to say that Wall-E will come out this year considering it opens in the summer and Disney won't miss the Holiday season to sell millions of copies of DVD's/Blu-ray's.

This year is the 10th Anniversary of A Bug's Life. I wonder if that may be released with Wall-E.

I know I'm probably in the minority on this, but a good DVD of Nixon is something I truly want and need. Even with a moniker as ridiculous as the one proposed.

I want the Director's Cut, of course -- the one that never even received a proper anamorphic DVD release.

It will be great to get a Bug's Life in 2008, but 2009 is probably a much better bet.

Why would Wall E not come out this year? Every summer movie up to the middle-end of August and even some Sept movies come out before X Mas. Wall E is guaranteed for the 2nd week in Nov.

And Pixar will do the same thing as Disney classics with a set time when their movies come back. Like 2 every November until the older Pixars are all out, which will be another 5 years. And if Nemo doesnt come out this year, I have a feeling Pixar will do what Disney is doing with a late 1st quarter and early mid 3rd quarter release like March and Novemeber

The problem is the UK Blu releases keep getting delayed.

I really hope that Disney has more catalog titles planned for the rest of the year other than just the 3 new ones they announced for this year.
