Default YUKIKAZE(Tom Cruise)

Via The Hollywood Reporter:

Tom Cruise has signed on for yet another sci-fi project.
The premise sees a planetary defense force beat back an invasion of aliens using a wormhole over Antarctica, setting up bases on the aliens' planet. Yukikaze is the name of the advanced reconnaissance fighter plane the hero uses on his missions
.

First Oblivion, then All You Need is Kill and now this. I can't say I'm disappointed, I like sci-fi and I like Cruise, and plus I think he did a good job in Oblivion.

Another anime to be sent to the slaughterhouse by Hollywood? I kid, but let's hope this isn't straight up terrible.

It's not gong to be any different than the rest of Tom Cruise's movies! Basically, he'll just be playing himself as usual. When you're watching his movies, you don't see him playing characters in his films, you'll only see him as Tom Cruise because, his superstar power, image and name, completely overshadow the characters in his films, and it's difficult to perceive him as portraying anybody else, but Tom Cruise.

Oblivion was a fun flick, and I like the presence that Tom Cruise gives to these sci-fi movies. He has that larger-than-life vibe that lends itself to the material, in the same way that Rod Taylor was well-suited for the 1960 adaptation of The Time Machine.

I really wish he'd do some quality roles. I'm not a fan of his personally, but he's got some acting chops. I wish he'd use them.

I wouldn't mind another film in the vein of The Firm, or maybe something like The Devil's Advocate.

I know right? The anime is so awesome (well, the animation and mechanical designs are awesome). God, I also remember how much I loved that ED sequence. So effin sweet.

I might see it if it's made and the trailers look promising...but it would be hard to live up to the OVA, which is the most awesome aircraft combat sequences ever done in anime or a movie. Story was okay, but the combat scenes...nothing touches those scenes for aircraft combat. Tom would have to way up the game from Top Gun to make it something worth seeing...

Agreed. Yukikaze really is one of those diamond in the rough gems that should've been seen by more people. A breathe of fresh air.
