I didn't see a thread on here with this topic. I'd like some suggestions as to which movies/scenes are your favorite to experience the full capabilities of your system.
I'd also like to know which movies use 7.1 surround the best. Thanks. |

Thank you. I guess that's why I shouldn't post when I'm tired and distracted. |

Not only does it have reference quality picture and 7.1 audio, but it also has four 3D trailers at the beginning of the disc, that have awesome 3D and lossless audio. You can use those to demo your system for guest to your HT. Last edited by timcat4843; 04-25-2013 at 04:04 PM. |

ID4
From the Blu-ray.com audio review of ID4: The opening moments of this DTS-HD MA 5.1 mix, the bass literally rattles your chest, but cleanly and distinctly, never going for broke and simply sending a signal to the subwoofer to shake and rattle at will. Instead, we get powerful but clean bass, bass that will put the absolute best subwoofers and amplifiers to the test, and by the end of the movie, both will be screaming for mercy and kindly ask that you watch No Reservations ten times in a row, as a way of taking some much needed R&R following the harrowing audio experience delivered by ID4. There may be a few other tracks that sound a bit cleaner and more realistic than this one, but if you want a true high-definition, foundation shaking, heart-pounding, no-nonsense, rip-roaring good time of a soundtrack, Independence Day on Blu-ray fits the bill perfectly. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!! ![]() Last edited by timcat4843; 05-03-2013 at 10:50 AM. |

I use PLXii to turn 5.1 into 7.1. If I had to pick from my 5.1 discs, I'd say these:
Titanic (Wind, water, gunshot echoes, moaning and groaning metal) The Others (Whispering that go complete 360, banging on the ceiling) Ted (The beer bottle that Ted throws at the dumpster sounds like it's right behind me) The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2003 (The scene where they find the opossum in the locker, sprinkler system) As for 7.1 encoded discs, I'd say: Dredd Fright Night 2011 Super 8 As Above So Below Shrek 2 |

I only have headphones and use Dolby Headphone, but the scene in "Oz the Great and Powerful" where the house is being swept up in the tornado sounded pretty much like it was coming from all around me, and I could even feel the LFE on my ears.

my pick is Pacific Rim. It has two lossless tracks, a 5.1 and 7.1. Gipsy's first deployment (awash with sorround activity) and subsequent battle with the kaiju Knifehead will get you started.
