Default Marvel's Ghost Rider

Today was going good and now it can't get any better!

Coming off the news that Daredevil had reverted back to Marvel, it was revealed today that the screen rights to Ghost Rider have also returned to the studio.

Entertainment Weekly confirmed the news to ComicBookMovie.com*via Twitter, with further details to follow soon.

However, as Kevin Feige noted earlier this week about Daredevil, this doesn't mean we can expect to see a Ghost Rider reboot any time soon. Said the Marvel exec, "Whenever a character comes back to us, it's usually because the other studios don't want to make the movies anymore -- and that usually means the [previous] movies may not have been particularly well received.*They all have potential, but we're not going to say, 'We got it back -- make it!'"
That said, it's no doubt comforting for Marvel to have these characters back in the fold, just in case.
So the film might not be coming soon but now we all can forget about the first two outings for this great character and we can finally move on from Cage!

Here's hoping they are giving people a few years to forget about the previous films, then are planning on releasing a new line of darker, Marvel Knights films that will include Ghost Rider, Daredevil, and the Punisher, all of which have now gone back to Marvel Studios.

So here's what they've gotten back so far;

Daredevil
Ghost Rider
The Punisher
Blade? Yes? No?

Of those, I wonder which one Marvel will re-boot first...

I think they will wait a few years before rebooting any of those listed.

I do think Blade will be the first one to get rebooted under Marvel. He has been away from film the longest besides Dare Devil. It will be a race between those two I think.

Yes, and I agree with that approach. Putting out a new Ghost Rider film, for example, too quickly, would be a challenge while the last Nicholas Cage piece of crap was still even vaguely fresh in the minds of the general public.

And Punisher has had THREE movie attempts so far, and while opinions vary on each of them one way or another, we can all agree that none of them were raging successes or quite did justice to the character or comic book series.

I agree. Punisher deserves success and a good adaption and when Marvel is ready I know they will deliver.

I would want Blade or Daredevil. The previous versions are fun and enjoyable, but they could be sooooo much more!

Disney owns Marvel now. They might license The Punisher again instead of producing in-house since a decent adaptation would probably be very violent.

I don't think they will do that. Put it under a banner other than Disney is what I see them doing. If they do license the violent type of characters out though, I'm sure they will have a heavy hand in the process and make sure this time they stick closer to the source.

Seeing as Feige straight out denied a DareDevil reboot. That one. If not that, Ghost Rider.

They have the biggest potential on the list of making them the most money. Punisher has been attempted 3 times before with failure every time. Blade, it wouldn't shock me if they attempted to get Snipes back now that he's out of jail to try to continue the series, even though it was a different studio.

I highly doubt Marvel would want Snipes back in the role. I would think they want someone younger for the role and to go in a different direction.

To be honest, I would love to see Thomas Jane as The Punisher again. I hope they give him another shot. I didn't care for the film, but I thought he pulled off the role quite nicely. And it was nice to see him in the short film as well. As for Ghost Rider, I never really cared for the comics, but at this point I'm sure anything could be better than the previous two efforts.

You know, I wouldn't mind seeing that. A Marvel Knights line of films for the more darker characters and themes. Connected to the larger MCU but Marvel Knights is just the darker side you don't get to see in the MCU with the Avengers.

Ghost Rider
Blade
Daredevil
Elektra
Moon Knight
Luke cage
Iron fist
Shang-Chi
Dr. Strange
Cloak and Dagger

What about The Inhumans?
Anyone other characters?

I wouldn't want a whole lot of interaction between the characters, maybe Dr. Strange can be one character who we see actually interact with the larger MCU. But having Avengers references in DD and The Punisher etc, to allude to a larger world in which street level heroes inhabit, would be as far as I would like to see it go. In any case, it will be a very long time before we see something like that. One can dream.

And Ghost Rider, it's really good to see another property revert back to Marvel.

Cage gets too much flack. I blame the directors and writers for the two lackluster films we got. I also want to give a swift kick in the nuts to whoever's bright idea it was to give us that thing I refuse to call Blackheart.

Ghost Rider
The Punisher
Blade
I want these characters in Avengers 2 / 3. I would also prefer if Ben Affleck and Wesley Snipes reprised their roles to connect the non-MCU with the MCU. That would be really cool!

While I enjoyed Thomas Jane's take on making The Punisher feel human, Dolph Lundgren was Frank Castle IMO.

They won't be put out under the Disney banner. All films starting with Thor 2 will be released under the Marvel Entertainment banner. Think of Marvel sort of like Touchstone. Both labels are owned by Disney and both can put out more mature content.
