Default Now I see what all the fuss was about...

I have been seriously contemplating upgrading my receiver, even though it was only 8 months old. I just felt I was missing something. Anyhow, long story short I found a pretty good deal on an Onkyo TX-NR 5009 so I went ahead and picked it up.

Now, I am relatively new here, and only recently began venturing into the world of home theater, but wow, what a difference between what I had, and what I have now!

Granted, the Onkyo isn't as flashy as some receivers out there, or even as nice as my old receiver was in terms of looks, but the sound that this thing puts out is great!! At least for me it is. I actually prefer that warmer sound and the Onkyo really does a nice job. I really haven't had time to play with all of its features, but the Audyssey setup really is quite fantastic, and now I understand where all the love comes from...

I doubt it's lossless that makes the difference. If his old receiver was only eight months old, it likely had TrueHD and dts-MA decoding, too. Besides, the high bitrate lossy outputs from Blu-ray also sound great. Audyssey MultiEQ XT32 is more likely the source of the improvement.

Coming from a Yamaha RX-V667 receiver with YPAO, to a Onkyo TX-NR3009 with Audyssey
MultEQ XT32 and Sub EQ HT, what a revelation!

I must admit that I was skeptical about Audyssey.
However, after living with it for awhile, I can now see why so many people like it.

This latest greatest version of Audyssey, does wonders to improve the sound quality
of your HT system.
