It certainly had it's effect on The Hollywood System, but it's the farthest thing from an artistic or aesthetic disaster. Its an incredible film!

  • the final poker sequence between bond and le chiffre in casino royale.
  • when the small handful of soldiers attack the hidden japanese bunker on the hillside in terrence malick's the thin red line.
  • the blood test sequence in john carpenter's the thing.
  • every scene in henri-georges clouzot's the wages of fear after the two trucks get rolling. This movie is just a massive heart attack waiting to happen, and i know that my luck is going to run out someday when i'm watching it.

  • the moment during rocky iv when, after drago has been consistently delivering a series of harsh punches to rocky balboa for almost two rounds, rocky finally lands that first good punch that cuts drago on the face. It's like drago is invulnerable and just effortlessly giving rocky the beatdown, then pow!...right in the face! It's a cheesy film, but...man...that's an awesome moment.

It's quite bloated and unwieldly; you can tell Cimino had become overcome with megalomaniacal tendencies when he made it, but it's not a terrible film by any means.

Opening scene in Jaws (1975)
Tyranasuaris Rex break-out scene in Jurassic Park (1993)
C-section scene from Prometheus (2012)
and the ENTIRE Alien (1979) and Aliens (1986) films.

Just off the top of my head.

Don't think anyone mentioned Apocalypto--a few scenes in Apocalypto come to mind, this one in particular! Starts at about 5:00 mark

It's not from a movie, but I'm currently watching all of Smallville(most episodes for the first time) to pump myself up further for 'Man of Steel'.

In the Season 3 Episode "Perry" that centers around Perry White, when Perry threatens to jump off the overlook trying to prove Clark had powers and he and Clark (who is suffering from a power surge because of the Sun Flare) go over and dangle from the single rope. I knew how it would end and it still had my heart pounding.
