I made a new video that I hope streamlines the process better. There is still an issue with the recording device (Bandicam) that misframes the image, but I think this is an improvement over the previous video that I made.
This Video covers the Nvidia Control panel, but I encourage anyone to create a version of the video for AMD/ATI cards for custom resolution. Start at 1:44 to begin the tutorial. Guide 1.)Right Click on Nvidia Control Panel. 2.) Select Display>change Resolution 3.) Scroll down and click Customize 4.)Select "Create Custom Resolution 5.) Select Timings, set "Standard" mini menu to "Manual" *Note: Automatic can be used with an Anamorphic Lens set up as it stretches the image similarly to a scaler. 6.) Set "Vertical lines" to a multiple of 8 (recommended): For 1080p image, set to "816", For 720p image, set to "544" 7.)Select Test, a pop up will appear to ask whether the new resolution works. Select "Apply" and the image will revert back to it's original resolution. 8.) Make sure the custom resolution you selected is checked on the left. 9.) Select the custom resolution you created, usually it has it's own "custom HD" settings" and apply |

For the heck of it, I decided to capture a gameplay video of Sonic Generations in 2.35:1. Enjoy!
![]() Here is a vid of me playing Black Ops 2. I'll add more gameplay videos from other games on this post. Last edited by Trogdor2010; 05-10-2013 at 04:45 AM. |

The Call of Duty video below it should have both HUD and gameplay to appear geometrically correct. Although that game still needs the widescreen fixer to do so. |

Something about this just occurred to me - does it treat the screen as scope when playing video, pillarboxing 1.78 content and the like? I'd imagine it does, but the reason I bring it up is that if so, then a possibility would for people with htpcs and anamorphic lenses to make a permanent scope screen, rip their collection to pc using something like dvdfab (for personal use only of course, which I'm pretty sure is legal), and using software such as mediabrowser (a windows media center plugin for those who do not know - it's what I'd use, and I'm actually in the process of setting it up for when I eventually do move my collection) to display the library.
I've been playing around with dvdfab, and here's what I've found that could make this strategy especially work (I apologize for the length, but I enjoy thoroughness): 1) since dvdfab automatically crops video that isn't 1.78:1 to it's proper aspect ratio, 2.35:1 videos (if computer is set to that aspect ratio, of course) will show up as that and take up the whole screen, any video with a smaller aspect ratio and any with larger will be letterboxed, although the letterbox will be small and mostly unnoticeable 2) (unneeded if using zoom method, of course) no need to move anamorphic lens in or out of way - presumably 2.35:1 image will show up letterboxed on projector, so keep lens always on and it will always fit right 3) dvdfab (to stay with this example) converts subtitles to subtitle files, which combined with cropping will fix cases where subtitles go into the black bars (ex. Letters From Iwo Jima) 4) the cropping again, will help cases with "weird" aspect ratios, such as The Last Emperor (2.00:1) or Lawrence of Arabia/Patton (2.20:1), that fit in between 1.78:1 and 2.35:1, since if just playing from disc part of the picture gets cut off if using the anamorphic lens. But with the crop factored in, none of the picture is lost, it's just not as wide as 2.35:1 Just some thoughts |

Really? That's cool. Are there any free ones like it in that regard? I ask because even though the ripping would probably work well for ones I own, for rentals it would take too long, not to mention the fact that it would be...frowned upon, to say the least.
