why rain man? I have never seen it. But there are plenty of incredible films not yet on blu-ray. I'm just wondering, what make this such a necessary film immediately?

This will probably remain a crime on the books for sometime to come. Rainman would be just one of many titles that needs the BD treatment.

Well, it is one hell of a powerful film. Definitely in my top 25! A MUST-SEE FOR SURE! But, the Blu-ray treatment isn't really necessary. It is a film that would not take advantage of the full presentation capabilities of Blu-ray. That film is entirely successful on its script and performances. The cinematography and sound have nothing to offer. There is far more appealing material out there that needs to look and sound Blu first.

Exactly, why would Rain Man need to be Blu? It will be just as impactful as it is in SD, that makes no sense. The movies that need Blu are ones that would take advantage of the visual/audio capabilities of high def, like action films with special effects and CGI, or just films with heavy imagery and sharp detail as well as high quality sound.

All movies benefit from HD treatment in PQ and SQ. Whether the difference is enough to double dip is for each individual to determine though.

I have replaced every DVD with a BD title as they become available and I have never regreted a single up-grade to BD!

Good movie, not exactly my first choice to be on BD but not a bad choice.

That reminds me. There was a cool thread going with this anouncement a few months back. We were discussing about having the dark side of the moon music track playing along side the film: incorporated into the BD as an option.
