I thought it was in line with the rest of them. The Venom character was rushed a bit, but other than that I thought it was a nice addition to the franchise.

The movie is terrible. I have it kept sealed so I can sell it with the system when I upgrade to the MGS4 package.

I liked it in the theaters, then watched it the day it came out on Blu, and rewatched it again a few weeks ago. The last time I watched it I was in the same boat as the OP . . . I just got kind of tired of hearing Tobey whine and MJ *****, and then Venom was just kind of like, hey, people will go see this if we put Venom in it. Definitely the worst of the series.

The spiderman movies were never that interesting in the first place. Sure they had interesting villains, but I think that peter parkers true power was his sensitivity and openness to whimper at the slightest emotional upset, to the point you expected it. I never understood what was super about him, he acted like a child throughout everyone of those movies.

I guess im just more of a batman fan.

I like the series. It's a good balance of action and humor. No need to take it so seriously.

...The butler did it!

Seriously, who made this?: Three forces, actually--
1) The studios, who anal-retentively insist that studio franchises follow their previous entries, which means bringing back the Goblin as many times as he appeared in the comics, since it's a "subplot" of the movies,
2) Sam Raimi, who anal-retentively insists on going through all the Silver Age villains in chronological order, if he can find an excuse to update the Rhino and Shocker, and
3) The fans, who wondered why Venom hadn't appeared in the series yet...DUH!!

It's hard trying to be all three movies at once.

Yeah, I agree that it gets increasingly difficult for sequels to succeed due to studio pressure and input from different parties, but the Spiderman trilogy actually did a good job of it compared to PotC. I don't know what people were expecting for Spiderman 3, but it really wasn't horrible.

I have waited my entire life for a movie version of Spidy and Sandman. I love the birth of Sandman.

However, I did hate certain parts of the movie. It runs for 2:15, but they could clip 15 minutes of that pointless character developement and have a much better movie. Even 10 minutes.... that whole bar scene of Peter Parker dancing is sheer stupidity.

I thought Spiderman 3 was alright, could've been better, but I think it is the closest to the comic out of all 3 of them.

IMHO, Spider-Man 2 was the greatest superhero movie ever made. The character development and story telling was top notch. The story developers were Alfred Gough and Miles Milar, who co-created Smallville.

Spider-Man 3 was written by Sam Raimi and his brother this time around. Avi Arid, former head of Marvel Entertainment, insisted that Raimi include Venom in the new story because "fans love him." I wish he would have stuck his nose out of things.

SM3 suffered from the old Batman formula of "too many villians." By trying to interweave plots including Sandman, Venom, New Goblin, and PP/MJ into a single storyline, it spiraled out of control without character development. Had they added just Venom or Sandman, and not both, they might have done a better job overall developing the story.

If Spider-Man 4 is ever made, I hope they get re-focused first. Dr. Conner's transition would be an interesting plot line to follow. Raimi should direct and not write.

I thoroughly enjoyed it. Watching the behind the scenes stuff definitely makes you appreciate the movie more. I loved it in theaters and I love it on blu.

It's not perfect by any means, but taking whats given theres A LOT to like here. I would have wished a venom movie to be created on its own but theres no regret when watching the relentless final action sequence. I understand why a lot of people dislike this movie, but it is one of my favorites.

agreed it was bad enough, but when it got to the dancing part, their was an awkward silence in the room, like wow bad movie actually just got worse, i thought #1 was ok, i loved #2 in comparison, and wow did they mess this one up. totally agree they had three to many sub plots going on and didn't develop any of them enough to make me care. so lame. i was really hoping with how much i liked 2 this would at least be watchable.

I believe Marvel is talking about doing a Venom Reboot a la Batman and Hulk (just ignoring previous movies).

As far as the franchise goes, I'm 'Meh, it's okay' with the first,(stupid green Power Ranger for a Green Goblin), I love the 2nd movie and generally loathe the 3rd. The only reason the 3rd is even in my home, is because it came with as part of the trilogy AND is admittedly good material to show off your setup. I personally think that Tobey Maguire is a terrible actor, the whole wide-eyed thing lost steam fairly quickly. Mary-Jane is a self absorbed *****,(hey, aren't most girls these days), Peter was far better off with the Russian Landlord's daughter. She at least liked Peter for who he really was, not who he tried to be for MJ. Sad, but true.

yeah that is where it really went down hill, he put his hair in front of his face and was walking like he was so cool, everyone was looking at him like he was an idiot , it didn't feel like it tied in with the story it was like watching a hi-end youtube vid of someone pretending to be cool but i guess it had a point

It tied in directly with the story. He was infected with the symbiote and developed his own psychological world that fed his ego. As he spiralled down, the film had some fun with it. Yeah, he was strutting and his hair was in his face (by the way, the James Brown song "Get Up Get Yourself Together Drive that Funky Soul" is some great R&B and it was mixed just right on the Blu-ray); he was given to vanity and used his spidey dexterity to dance and play piano. It was like a car wreck and that's what it took for him to hit bottom and realize he needed to break from the symbiotic black organism. Come on guys. It was supposed to be over the top. It was supposed to make you cringe because it wasn't the real Peter Parker.
