United Kingdom Trance - August 5th, 2013

The UK branch of 20th Century Fox will release on Blu-ray award winning director Danny Boyle's latest film (Trainspotting, 28 Days Later), Trance (2013), starring James McAvoy (Atonement), Rosario Dawson (Eagle Eye), Vincent Cassel (Brotherhood of the Wolf, La Haine), and Tuppence Middleton (Cleanskin). The preliminary release date set by the studio is August 5th.

Danny Boyle helms this psychological thriller about an auctioneer falling foul of a gang of ruthless art thieves. When upmarket art auctioneer Simon (McAvoy) double-crosses the gang responsible for the daring daylight robbery of a priceless painting by Goya, he incurs the wrath of the gang's violent leader, Franck (Cassel). In the aftermath of a beating where he is knocked unconscious, Simon claims to be suffering from amnesia and is therefore unable to remember where the painting is, provoking Franck into hiring female hypnotist Elizabeth (Dawson) to find the answer. But as Elizabeth delves ever deeper into Simon's subconscious, the lines between fantasy and reality converge, threatening to consume all as a series of shocking events spiral violently out of control.

Special Features:
-The Power of Suggestion - Making Trance
-Danny's Film Noir
-Hypnotherapy
-The Look
-The Final Rewrite
-Deleted Scenes
-Stolen Paintings
-Chip Shop
-Boy in a Red Vest

Great film, and the other cut would ruin the film personally.
Was this 18 at the cinema? I can't remember

It was hardcore for a 15 I thought at the time, so why is the disc 18?

Meh, probably give this one a miss until it's cheaper. It's a fun film, but a one and done in my mind.

The 18 is probably a misprint. Everything submitted to the BBFC so far has been a 12 or 15...

Is it just me or is Fox UK overpricing their new releases and Fox US cutting down on pricing their new releases?

Maybe it's not selling well? Or maybe it's being treated as an independent film so sometimes they get stupidly high price-points...EiV had The Master at around that price for quite a while (annoying since I finally bought it just before it dropped in price).

As for this one, I personally wouldn't think about buying it until it dropped to around a fiver...I think I've gone off Boyle quite a bit I think. I still like 127 Hours and 28 Days Later, and Shallow Grave somewhat, but I've gone off things like Sunshine and this. I want him to stop making smug, wacky films and try something new! Back to horror?

Unless the price drops before release, I'm cancelling this and waiting until it's cheaper. £19.99 is too much for this

Fox UK seem to be charging stupidly high prices for their new releases. The 3 recent ones I have been interested in The Sessions, Stoker and now Trance were all well over £15 and in some places over £20 online, although you have been able to find at the £15 price level in at least one place. HMV in store have been pretty good prices in release week at least.

The Sessions took 3 months to drop to £10.97 which is the price I took from Base.com at the weekend and they now have stock and it is processing.

Stoker and Trance I am happy to wait for a similar price drop.

Well, I notified Amazon that ASDA had it at 15.00, so they price matched it now.
Hopefully the UK disc has Japanese options...

Just got my UK copy this morning...posted pic of slipcover in the slipcover thread. Disc is dts-HD 5.1 only, not 7.1 like the US disc.
If anyone has any specific questions leave questions down below and I will check the disc tonight between 6:30-7pm.
