Did a search for this particular thread topic and could not find one. Knowing my luck, someone will find one just like it, but oh well.
I was inspired to create this thread by the current Amazon sale on the Indiana Jones Collection. Whenever there is a sale, there are always people out their who will post that "they're waiting for the right price." I do this myself quite often. I know people tend to have their limit for when they're willing to blind buy, but I'm more curious over what is everyone's target price for bigger buys like the Star Wars Collection? |

New Releases - $15 or less
Specialty Titles - $20 or less Catalog Titles - $10 or less TV shows - $20 or less per season There are exceptions though. If it is a highly anticipated release (new or catalog) the price I'm willing to pay varies. Last edited by PopcornBandit; 06-01-2013 at 12:25 AM. |

If I want it, I buy it. I'll pay what I think the item is worth to me. So, most content has no "jumping on" price at all. I just want it, so I get it. Some content has to be $15. Some I wouldn't touch for less than $10. I'm sure this is the same for most people, so this thread is trying to create too large of a generalization.

I have no real general jumping on price. I shop around for the best price I can find using points, coupons, etc .... and buy what I want. Providing I have the money to begin with of course ....
![]() Although Blind-Buys of titles which I may or may not like I max out at $9.99. These are often the ones that get Ebayed and usually in lots .... Last edited by HonestJohn; 06-01-2013 at 12:49 AM. |

My rock bottom on most blu's are $5-15 bucks for most releases. What always gets me is that I love exclusive packaging so I tend to spend more for those.
Oh and then there is anime, I love it but man I always feel like I overpay for those sets. 45 bucks for 12 episodes. ![]() |

I try to stick to theses prices from Amazon; I also have to pay for shiping to Taiwan.
![]() New movies: $14.99 Old titles: $7.99 Box sets: same as old titles. Looking at the Gangster Collection Public Enemy, White Heat, Petrified Forest, and Littele Caesar). 4 titles, so $32. TV: $29.99 Last year, I got Walking Dead S2: $29.99! Sons of Anarchy S4: $24.99! Boardwalk Empire S2: $34.99. All on release date! ![]() |

Fifteen was okay for Back to the Future but I only wanted the first one. I wanted two of the Indys and wasn't opposed to giving the other two another look so thirty was okay during that brief Target deal. For big single-film Collector's Editions I usually start getting tempted around thirty and anything under twenty is very hard to resist. If I really want a digi fifteen will probably do the trick, if I only kinda want it I'll crack around ten. |

I deleted my earlier long-winded post, because I totally missed the point of the original post at first, and I was thinking about single movies on Blu-ray instead of larger multi-film Blu-ray sets.
I do not usually have a set price point for larger sets, aside from common sense rules. When I decided last month that I wanted to own The Twilight Zone: The Complete Series, I found it for $148 on Amazon, realized that this was the lowest price in the price tracking history, and then pulled the trigger. I really had it in my head that I wanted that particular set, though, because I was excited about watching the show in high definition. I probably would have purchased it that same day even if the price had been $20 or $30 higher. I am thinking about buying Alfred Hitchcock: The Masterpiece Collection on Blu-ray, but have waited simply because I have had other priorities. When I do decide that I want this set and I want it now (in perfect Veruca Salt voice), though, I'll probably shell out for it even if it is not at a low price on that particular day. I won't pay MSRP, of course, but I'll pay $20 or $30 more on a particular day rather than wait for months until the next big holiday sale or something. I bought the America Lost and Found: The BBS Story Criterion Blu-ray set yesterday for $61 by using a gift card and the 40% off sale. I could have saved five dollars or so by waiting until July for the 50% sale, but I wanted this particular box set yesterday, and that was that. |
