Hi
Video for HIMMATWALA DVD has been encoded from 4K DI Source.
4K DPX Log files>>>> HDCAMSR> MOV >>>>Mpeg
4K DPX Log files >>>>1920x1080 MOV>>>Mpeg

I dont think there is any other process to encode for DVD or BluRay.If it is there I dont know.My Cinemacraft encoder does not accept 2K or 4K DPX Log files.
But there is a big difference in PQ of DVD and BD if the source is Digi / HDCAMSR
But not much difference between 1920x1080 10 Bit uncompressed MOV captured from HDCAMSR or transcoded from 2K/4K Log DPX images.
After encoding from these sources there is no PQ difference for normal Human eyes.

Mastering BD form 4K Source is a sale gimmick by publishers. 2K or 4K source- first it is to be converted to 1920x1080 for encoding for BluRay.

4K BD- Sony is also using 5 Encoders from Cinemacraft which are not accepting 2K or 4K DPX Log files. They might have developed new 4K encoding process.

Which BluRay player can play 4K BD discs?
What is the resolution of Video of 4K BD?
What codec/Video format is being used for 4K BD?
What is Frame rate for 4K BD?
Is this new 4K BD is approved by BluRay Association?

Answer and Correct me if I am wrong.....
Last year one senior member used to claim that Tamil BDs are authored and encoded from 4K source- when I challenged that no encoder is accepting 2K or 4K source- They stopped claiming.

Maybe they chose not to share certain information with a competitor?

Hi Sunny
You are not a competitor and I am sure you might be knowing if any 4K or even 2K file can directly be be encoded for DVD and BluRay.

Which software can encode directly from 2K or 4K log DPX images?

Can you enlighten me please.

Thanks
Chandna

so far sony released or re-released 4k master disc on bluray which is not a big deal its just like dvd upconverting to 720p/1080p...4k is 1080p upconverted by using h.265 or called HEVC..I believe h265 compress the audio and video very efficiently without losing any quality

Not at all, it's the opposite. The encode is sourced from a 4K master down-converted to 1080p, and HEVC/H265 has not been used (current BD players would not be able to play H265 discs). The upscaling will happen only when you watch it on a 4K TV.

Seriously hate to burst your bubble but your JVC projector is not a 4k projector. It's a 2k projector that utilises e-shift 2. It does not play native 4k. The only 4k Projectors on the market are the Sony range. I own the Sony VW500. Exceptional projector with reality creation and a setting that is aimed at mastered for 4k movies. A Sony addon for Sony discs and its Sony that's plugging 4k at present. No other pj manufacturers want to touch 4k until the codec is made official. The new JVC range accept native 4k but downscale it to 2k then upscale it using e-shift 3! I know this as I'm a JVC and Sony projector dealer.

On a separate note, also worth pointing out that alot of movies are being filmed on Sony's 4k cameras and being released in 'mastered for 4k' fashion. An example of this is Oblivion. You also have 'Elysium' which on the reverse actually confirms it to be 'mastered in 4k'

Jagdeep is right. I was about to buy the JVC, but then I realized that used that e-shift technology so it is really just pixel doubling. I then went with the Panasonic PT-AE700U. One of the best 1080p 3D projectors and I got a great deal on it (only $2000 compared to many others that were $3000+for the same or slightly worse overall quality).
