So basically Vudu applied this promo to our prior purchases as well in the form of credits.
Oh nice, thanks! I still wish they allowed us to do this over the PS3 as I don't have BD drive on my PC.

Yeah, even before this generosity, I thought they had terrific customer service. The only complaint I really have(aside from the lack of HD streaming and downloading on tablets) is that there are quite a few scope aspect ratio movies that are cropped to 1.78:1 and have yet to be corrected.

A recent update to the iOS version allows for downloading (including iPads). The Android version (which for some odd reason has always been for tablets only) has always allowed downloading.

Yeah, it seems like either Engadget jumped the gun or Vudu let the press release slip out a little early. The link in Engadget's article to the Vudu blog brings up an error page, and there's nothing that I can find on Vudu's site about it coming out of beta or being available for Mac.

I was referring to the lack of HD streaming and downloading. SD works fine on tablets, but hopefully they can start offering HD soon.

The email and credits that everyone is getting would imply that the beta is ending/has ended, but yeah engadget may have released the PR too soon.

Gotcha. The way I read it was HD streaming as one complaint and a lack of downloading to tablets as a second complaint. It's those excessive, minute rules of grammar that have been drilled into my head all of these years in my profession.

But yeah, HD streaming and HD downloading would be greatly appreciated.

I'm sort of tempted to buy a few HDX versions of stuff I have on DVD that is not on Blu Ray for one reason or another....

Still better to wait for the Blu I guess. Ultimately,... I would like to just have all my stuff be Blu.

Apparently. The beta has been going for quite a while. A few here and there add up. Plus a big batch at the beginning.

So a question about the Engadget article;

"To get others to try it out, Vudu is giving away the first conversion on the house and if you're willing to convert ten or more movies then you'll get a 50 percent discount."

Does this mean that they are doing this for the NEW version too.....or are they referring to the BETA version discount we just got?

It sounds like they're talking about customers who try it from this point on given the dates that are listed. There's no mention anywhere of anything for beta testers only.

I'm curious if those who participated in the beta will still be eligible for it or not.
