I have never seen either one of these, are these movies good? is it action? I have heard a lot about them so for someone just getting into both which versions should I look for to get?

the new film is almost 30 minutes longer? Damn. I would love to check this out, but I already have the first blu ray. ugh...I hate double dipping.

They seem to be rather hated films, for some reason. Personally, I love the first, and the second is pretty solid.

It's pretty hard to make a vigilante film that I don't like, however.

I've had friends with similar tastes both love and hate both films. You'll just have to try em and see where you fall on the matter. Rent the first, if you hate you'll probably hate the second as well. If you love it you'll probably hate the second as well.

First holds up well for me and was the best thing ever when I discovered it around 2000 (before any US dvd existed). I'm among the few fans on part 2 as well, but know damn well it's a shell of the first. If I had to category the first I'd say "dark comedy/action/****ed up".
