British distributors Entertainment One have detailed their upcoming Blu-ray release of award winning director Steven Soderbergh's Side Effects (2013), starring Rooney Mara, Channing Tatum, Jude Law, and Catherine Zeta-Jones. The release will be available for purchase on July 29th.

Synopsis: Steven Soderbergh directs an all-star cast in this psychological thriller following the effects of one woman's mental breakdown on those closest to her. In the hopes of treating the depression she is suffering in anticipation of her husband Martin (Tatum) returning home from prison, Emily Taylor (Mara) is prescribed the new and untested drug Ablixa by her psychiatrist Dr Banks (Law) after seeking the guidance of Dr Siebert (Zeta-Jones). Soon afterwards, things start looking up for the Taylors but it isn't long before Emily begins experiencing some disturbing side effects which appear to blur the line between fantasy and reality.

One of the best films of the year, though with so many surprise twists I'm not too sure if it will be worth repeated viewings.
However, Rooney Mara *sigh*

Really enjoyed this ; It's the type of drama/thriller you very rarely see anymore. I don't know if I'm in a hurry to see it again, but I would gladly pick it up once the price drops.

as others have said, its a really really good film but not sure if its worth watching twice once you know all the plot/twists. will pick it up when its below the £8 mark

Was considering it as it's only £12.99 and I do want to see it again soon...might wait though like you said it will drop to below a tenner come September...

UK release of this doesn't look quite as nice as the US release, at least if the caps on here are accurate. UK release is a bit brighter overall, which has the effect of washing the colours out a bit. Probably wouldn't have noticed if I hadn't seen them side by side, but there's definitely a difference. Of course the UK has more extras, so it's swings and roundabouts.

Cheapest new release price seems to be Entertainment Store via Play.com at £12.49

Is the UK version region-free? What's the scoop with the extras (ie How many FPS)?

I believe eOne normally lock, but you'd have to speak with someone who has the disc to know for certain...

You guys could try waiting until it's released, next monday, before asking questions that require disc in hand.

Judging by the fact that picture has several copies of Mean Girls also in shot. I'd assume it was taken from a warehouse...

As I said above Entertainment Store posted my copy yesterday so should be with me Saturday or even possibly tomorrow.

Wow ES are good then? I have Mud pre-ordered with them. Blockbuster haven't sent mine yet to my knowledge.

Based upon rumours here it is run by some of the former managers of Play.com hence why they are on there now.

Only got a couple of pre orders from them. Side Effects because at £12.49 its cheapest around and like Play used to do they have all been shipped very early.

Its a pity that the majority of their pre order prices can be beaten elsewhere.

UK release is definitely region 'B' UK locked. Picked my copy up this morning. Slip has a smooth, velvet-type finish with some glossy parts.

It's definitely locked. I checked it with BDInfo, AnyDVD and my standalone player then submitted specs here. Haven't got around to watching the extras yet (I rarely do - generally don't interest me).
