The Bird With the Crystal Plumage Blu-ray Review

An American writer (Tony Musante - Toma, TV series) traveling in Rome is the only witness to an attempted murder by a sinister man in a raincoat and black leather gloves, though he is powerless to do anything to stop him. With a feeling that something is not quite right about the scene he has witnessed and the police's inability to make any progress, he launches his own personal investigation…and nearly loses his life in the process. While this modern day Jack-the-Ripper type is slithering through the dark byways of Rome slicing up pretty girls, director Dario Argento is carving up the emotions of terrified viewers. Dark deeds are mixed with black comedy worthy of Hitchcock in a film of almost unbearable tension and nail-biting suspense.

The kicker being that none of the extras were ported over form the Blue Underground release, except the trailer. But its much better than paying $90 bucks on Amazon, so I will grab it and hope that this might drive the price for the o.o.p edition down a bit.

Finally an announcement!! let's see if it drives down the BU disc price... I have the BU dvd that i picked up on amazon used for about $10 a year or two ago that i can keep for the extras if not.

I would just buy a 3 Disc BD Case and add my two DVD discs to it.
Beats paying almost 100 bucks online.

I hope it will be as good in pq. Never had the knowledge of this gem of film before the prices went ridiculous.

wow is the price that high now?... I got mine for $30 on ebay about a year ago... that's good that others will have a chance to pick it up again, hopefully the transfer will be comparable to the BU release because it is really good... kinda sucks about no extras but I think most are more concerned with the pq/aq

If you want extras (albeit not the same as the BU ones) you can always pair this release with the Arrow UK one. That would still work out being much cheaper than the BU release.

... so, I'll just grab Bird while I'm at it. VCI does really nice covers, I never got the BU BD, but I have the DVD, and I might as well get this one, and hopefully find the BU release cheap somewhere one day.

VCI will also be "ripping" the Kino White Zombie, and releasing their own.

To note, the original VCI DVD sucked in comparison to Blue Underground's two-disc DVD set.

I'm glad I picked up the Blue Underground Blu-ray when rumors started going around that the disc was going out-of-print.
