How does The ps3 work with the onkyo 605 - Blu-ray Forum

do you get 7.1 true hd with this system im trying to stay under 700 with my whole system and the 605 with onkyo speaker system is what im looking at for 630 dollars.. help please

You get True HD but it is decoded by the PS3 and passed to the receiver as PCM.

so pretty much you're hearing PCM and not TrueHD.

TrueHD decoded in the Player is PCM.

TrueHD decoded in the Receiver is PCM.

Its PCM either way.

No you will be hearing Dolby TrueHD
The PS3 is just decoding it internally and then sending it to the 605 as LPCM
You will still be hearing TrueHD
